I have just been RIPPED off by Easyjet

I would described the £100 charge as a 'rip off' in the sense that it is a punitive charge applied to the customer; EJ do not incur any costs or have to undertake any additional work to account for the £100 charge. The £20 admin fee covers the name correction, but its the same passenger sitting in the same seat on the same plane.
Simply because something is stated in the terms and conditions doesn't make it fair or even legally enforcible. Here is a good example...
A couple of years ago my wife rented a Vaux Astra for a couple of days. Whilst parked in a public car park the set of plastic wheeltrims were stolen. When the car was returned to the rental depot they made a note of this and subsequently deducted £60 from her credit card (approx cost of new wheel trims - this was within the insurance excess). Fair enough. But they also pointed to a clause in their T&C's that stated that for any repair work to the car there would also be an additional £150 damage repair charge, over and above the actual cost of the work. They deducted this additional £150 from her CC.
I helped her draft a small claims court claim for the £150. The hire company defended the claim. On the day my wife won. The judge ruled that the since my wife was being charged for damage done to the car, the company could only charge for the cost of the rectification work done, reasonable admin charges and any loss of rental income. Since wheeltrims only take minutes to clip into place the judge stated that the T&C's were unfair in this case, even though she had implicitly accepted them in renting the car.
You do not have to accept everything these companies dish out.
Personally I would not fly with Ryanair or EJ any more. Too much hassle and I don't like the way they do business. I certainly don't mind any business making a fair profit, but there are ways and means of doing this and these companies have crossed the line as far as I am concerned.0 -
I have just read through this whole thread with bemusement that quickly turned to horror and shock.
I cannot believe how many ill wishing and self righteous 'know it alls' are out there.
The OP turned for help / advice and got nothing but criticism and was short of being labelled an 'idiot'.
Wake up people - WE ALL make mistakes from time to time!!! When we do - surely it's fair to expect a helping hand and not a kick down?
To all you "I would have read the T&C" preachers - let's hope that you NEVER EVER make a costly mistake -cause let's face it if you do you will know that YOU can turn to this forum for Help & Advice where there will be those who will be quick to put you down and have a good old laugh at your stupidity!0 -

I said don`t use such scummy companies.
If the choice is to travel with Easyjet or not travel, then I choose to holiday at home.
So you are saying that if Emirates or BA do not fly on your chosen route, that we should all stay at home?
Looks like we'd better PM Martin to ask him to shut down the Travel board!
Gone ... or have I?0 -

OK, here's a more politically correct answer:
Big hugs, lots of love, sorry you made a mistake ...
Now accept you messed up, pay the money and move on.
Have a good holiday!Gone ... or have I?0 -
.... how can they get away with it.
Here is what they say:
"Each change is subject to a £20.00 fee (a saving of £10.00 over the call centre)
plus any increase in flight fare, per passenger per flight.
For full details see our carrier's regulations."
I think you answered your own question!
As posted above, if you feel the T&Cs are punitive, put in a claim to the Small Claims Court.
(ps....not sure really why we're all adding to this thread! The OP has obviously lost interest in the matter.)0 -

dmg - That is not what he said.
Your serious habit of 'selective reading' is starting to make me wonder if perhaps you are just thick and actually believe the garbage you are speaking and that you fail to even understand the simplest of posts.0 -

Yes, it is.
I do think that you choose to post just to argue with people, so I am not going to respond to you anymore.

No unless a system asks for a middle name missing it out is allowed.Saint_Chris wrote: »just to ask my own question again, would putting the 1st and last name, but missing the middle name out not be charged for.
I am a travel agent and need enter peoples names onto flight manifests all day every day. If I spelt a name wrong and was charged £100 a time I might aswell work for nothing.
I do however agree £100 is a lot of money when there is no actual paperwork involved as tickets arent issued, however another flight company such as Thomas Cook or another who issue tickets would have costs involved associated with the issue of actual tickets so charge accordingly, this is ony £20- £25 though.0 -

Face it, you are just a snob, not sure how you lowered your standards to read a thread with " Easyjet " in the header?
In fact, I really aint sure why you read MSE at all.
I treat Budget Airlines like a bus, they get me to where I want to go and back again at a reasonable cost, I am not in to paying BA prices for their scummy service.0
