    My delivery arrived and showed the voucher on my reciept but the handheld machine showed full amount. i photocopied my del note and signed that but when the driver phoned the store they said he had to get a signature on his handheld or take the shopping back. He was here for an hour, bless him while i phoned here there and everwhere finally got through to adsa house in leeds 08453001111 where they offered me £25 off nxt shopping and free delivery. Now on to trading standards....

    Just had my delivery arrive and wish i could say the same about the drivers i had. My delivery also showed voucher but handheld machine showed full amount. I had to contact the store as the drivers said they were not allowed to make 'personal calls' while at work (not sure how personal they are with the customer services at work). Customer services said i should have realised it was a mistake and was i having my shopping or not as they were doing as instructed and delivering my order. I said i wouldnt have it if they couldnt honour the price shown on my confirmation invoice, to which i was told 'suit yourself' and the phone was put down one me! The drivers then asked what they wanted me to do with the shopping to which i replied you better take it back, they grunted and said i would be charged whether i accepted the shopping or not. Surely they cant charge me for shopping i havnt accepted?? Oh and im now writing a letter to head office, dont suppose it will do me any good other than release some of this frustration :rotfl:

    Asda are NOT liable under law.

    It was clearly a mistake and if you delve into their T&Cs you'll see that things like this are excluded.

    Why is it that whenever a retailer makes an obvious mistake, the public get all uppity when the retailer won't honour it and threaten to sue?

    Hand the goods back, get your refund and you have lost NOTHING!

    Asda have made an obvious mistake, get over it!!

    At the end of the day it's no different to the people that receive an insignificant injury then attempt to sue for damages.

    Lawyers say large retailers' terms and conditions usually enable them to withdraw offers if a product hasn't actually been delivered, but the public relations damage can be harder to remedy.

    It's not an obvious mistake; unlike when Argos charged £100 for a £1000 television, they were quite right to say 'sorry, you should have realised that this was too good to be true'. In this instance, people's PERSONAL accounts received a voucher that applied to them PERSONALLY, in a way that was not 'open for the public'. The voucher was legitimate, and referred to a competition that had been entered. I for one remember entering several competitions in the last few months with ASDA, as I've been on their 'tellasda' panel, so I had legitimate reason to believe that it was correct. It was only after I searched on this forum on Sunday that I realised something was amiss.

    Although ASDA have the same type of indicators in their T&Cs that allows them to get out of it (refer to my earlier post), there is a chance people can individually negotiate a settlement. Of course, screaming 'sue, sue' or joining facebook groups called 'Don't go to ASDA' isn't going to help anyone - a reasonable request for a suitable explanation as to why you, as a person and individual, feel personally let down and deserve suitable recompense would be more effective.
