You are approaching this with entirely the wrong attitude. What we do is pretend to hate books, shoes and bags. Then we buy them, and pass them off as necessities. Simple.:D

Am so bloody pleased, I also cleared out under the bed, and tidied up all my plastic boxes, I have got my toiletries in one small box in a cupboard - rather than under my bed so I can get to them. filled two bags of rubbish, and one bag of recycling. did my wardrobe, my desk and my cupboard.

I have my sad self help books in a pile by my bed for when I get miserable. And I have set up my sun clock and got my fitness dvds at the ready!!!

    Love a happy Buffy!

  • Well done you :T

I love my sun clock, it's so much nicer than waking up to a screeching alarm in the dark.

  • Hi

bit miserable. got an e mail from OU explaining that if I fail the courses I can't register with them for three years.

I know i have failed the courses, I wasted a really good opportunity there and am pretty much gutted.

You know I thought my life was staying the same but it is changing - even if its not in the way I want it to!

Apparently you can appeal but since they weren't terribly helpful well ever really. I know i can't blame them. I made stupid decisions and will now not be able to change career retrain like I hoped. Now I have to staying teaching.

Well ok thinking like that is not going to help neither is working out how old I will be when I can finish another degree.

Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again more intelligently. hmm. I will think about!

so tired. ate a big dinner which was a mistake.

Buffy, I was in exactly the same as you re OU courses, as I had dropped out of 3 this yr, they sent me the same email as you saying that I could not study for 3 years. I was gutted, but god knows where I got the strength from, but I appealed and sent in a letter explaining what had happened over the last yr (neighbours from hell, health problems, family probs- although they were caused by neighbours), the good news is they overturned the verdict. As well as giving them an explanation of what went wrong, I was also able to explain what went right (trust me not as much), so I am able to continue studying I had originally planned to do 2 courses this study year, but they comprismised on 1 and I start that in Feb. There is light at the end of the tunnel.
Apply for the over turn even if you dont want to study straight away, it opens the gate to study in a yr or so.

My plan of action was a degree by the time I was 40, I know thats gone out of the window, but even if it takes 5 yrs I will do my best to get there.

    Please, please reconsider appealing. xx
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx
  • Oh Buffy, what a horrible thing to happen. Is there a particular career you are thinking of? Does you necessarily need to have a degree for it? Is there another route in? I think mum2one is right, if you appeal, at least you will have the option to try again later, you don't have to do it right away.

Just concentrate on a few things at a time, I would like to look at doing courses sometime, but I want to get a grip on the debts first, maybe if I successfully complete the 4k year and have some funds to fall back on. Maybe you could think about doing it that way. Could you spend the time between now and then doing some reading up on the things you want to study? That way you will know if it is something you will enjoy and it will give you a headstart if you decide to take up a course.

    Baby steps!

    Hope your'e ok x
