I don't think I am going to make it as debt free by dec 09.
The over spend on my credit card is what's done it really. I spend loads at the vets and on early Christmas presents.
I really should have budgetted better for Christmas. I was going to shop each month but I couldn't find much of what I wanted so the money disappeared.

So my C card won't be paid off Feb or my birthday.
and my loan won't be paid off my dec
I signed up to the 20,000 by dec 09 that was made me work stuff out.
but I can make some money from Avon? and E bay and maybe cut down on my spends.
being realistic - from Jan
I'll pay 448 on the loan and 800 pound on the cc till its paid off,
then I'll pay the extra 800 to the loan.
by the end of the year I should have a debt of
18868- 14976= 3892
and the 3892 will maybe take another 3 months to pay off.
so maybe I should aim for my birthday as my debt free date.
I am really angry with my self. that 3000 pounds or so is my driving lessons and ou - ou I screwed up and my driving lessons are still going to be expensive.
I could cry but I guess this is the time not to be crying over split milk.
I wonder if I could make the 3892 some how.

Hi Buffy
Um, methinks you are forgetting that clearing that much in a year is bl**dy impressive and something you should be proud of, not beating yourself up for!
And your driving lessons are an investment, part of your ticket to your new life. Well worth it I'd say (but then you know I am biased - particularly today as driving to different college training saved me 3 hours and much coach-induced grumpiness).
PLEASE stop being so hard on yourself. You're fabulous, may I remind you

Buffy, please fdont be so hard on yourself, yes ok you might not be debt free as soon as you wanted to, but a few extra months, yes ok OU didnt work out, but another time, another place, OU may well be right.
If it was a case of you foing out 5 night a week on the beer, the takeaways, the clubs then yes you would have a reason to be annoyed, but YOU DO NOT FIT INTO THIS CATAGORY.
Look at what you have achieved over the last 12 months, a damm look.
Ok driving lessons are expensive, but just remember that they are a means to an end, there is a positive of spending that money, not just passing the test, but independance and freedom.
I would honestly dread to ask how much the lessons r, when I leant to drive back in 1988/89, I was paying £6.00 per lesson, that was with discount, as the driving instructor had taught my mum and our then neighbour, think the going rate was £6.50, but that 50p made a difference. He never charged me extra when he raised his prices as I was a gd customer...........think it could of been the fact that I had 40 driving lessons, and passed on my 3rd attempt! but the freedom that driving licence got me, was worth every penny, every sweat and tear........trust me there was a few!!
Please, please dont be hard on yourself, you are a wonderful person., xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
I know what you guys are saying and its very kind of you bothxxx but I do need to pull my finger out next year. There are so many things I cannot do whilst I am in debt.
I want so badly to be shot of it all sometimes. to just have my wages and be able to pay for things with out thinking what I have I spent want have I paid for etc. I really expected to be further forward but I tihnk I am unrealistic with my budget plus which stuff like transport and vet cost fluctuates from month to month.
Plus which I have tried reading the matched betting thread I don't know how many times and I STILL do not get it!
and then I can't help thinking come of Buff stop looking for the easy way out you just have to suck it up and PAY woman and get over it !
I have a savings account with a bit of money in - meant to be for driving lessons. I have bits everywhere actually i save 40 quid a month in four different accounts - borrowed some for the vets earlier in the year but maybe I will check what is were and see if I can use it on the CC or Christmas.
I should go to bed.
What I need is a routine. ugh.
see you all in the morning.

1. close all unnecessary bank accounts (how I can have such a sentimental attachment to them is beyond me but I do)
2. Keep on account for Avon, one for cashback and paypal and second job.
3. one account for Wages.
4. keep out goings to a bear minimum. hmmmm.
5. keep to the following challenges.
- 1000 pounds in 100 days
- 4000 pounds a year
- 15k paper hat
- 20,000 by Dec 09.
Focus on toluna and Lightspeed for surveys,
Ebay for selling my junk
Avon as my business(rather then a hobby)
Green met for selling books
cash back wise
I am not very good at this ! I did ok at first, but the whole clicking for two pence is pretty annoying. I will do the free scratch card. and try not to be tempted to play bingo......I will check when shopping on line if I can get a cash back tho.
that is enough for now. sleepy and still bloody miserable.
I should feel good really but to be honest I want Christmas over with and oh I don't know. It all just feels wrong and I can't put my finger on why.
bed now.

Good morning Buffy,
I've been following this thread for a little while - catching up when I can.
I've been on actively using this site for about 4 months and I know I see your name regularly - I alway admire you for how much you've achieved and dedication to getting there. I have never managed to take the next steps i.e. ebay; Avon or other things.
It must be hard for things not to quite add up. Here you are slogging your guts out to achieve your DFW goal but there are other things that you feel are holding you back. I've found this - sometimes having so many goals means that you are being pulled in opposite directions.
You have achieved so much but if you are like me, you will always think about what you haven't managed to achieve. Just remember, if you didn't have the drive to work on your debts you wouldn't even be contemplating a debt-free date.
Your goals for the next year are really focused - that's going to really help you. Have you had a look at your whole thread and the one from last year - I bet you'll find that you have been on a rollercoaster and that there are loads of good bits that you can copy and paste into a document that you can use as a reminder to yourself when you are feeling low.
Keep driving forward - this time next year you'll be waving goodbye to a huge amount of debt and driving towards that small piddly amount that you have left to get rid of!
Happy Sunday

That is such a lovely positive message to read on a Sunday or any day actually thank you URG, that has cheered me up no end!

You're very welcome.
It's hard to keep things in perspective sometimes! You've helped me and loads of others along the way too!
Have a great day - I'm putting off the ironing at the moment!

Sorry Buffy, but i'm going to agree with the others - you are being too hard on yourself. Pull your finger out next year by all means, but don't beat yourself up over what has happened and that you cannot change. It's just putting more pressure on yourself that you don't need.
For the accounts, are your cards all going to be on 0%? If not, it may be an idea to keep open one of your existing creditcards to do a balance transfer on if you can get an offer as an existing customer. Don't want you paying interest and getting yourself even more worked up by putting the DFD back even further.
Matched betting - seems complicated until you actually try writing the scenarios. I would avoid tennis, but something like a snooker match where there are only 2 options (win/lose - no draw) is easier to understand. I don't do it myself, but that's because i don't trust myself to do it properly.
2 players - Bill & Ben
Bill wins the match so you win the money you staked. £10 of yours and £10 free so you win £20
Ben lost so you lost £10 of yours and £10 free so you really lost £10
You won £20, lost £10 so overall you are £10 up.
If you use sports where there are only 2 outcomes it is probably easier to understand. When there are 3 such as football (win/lose/draw) then people generally stick to one team.
Bet on QPR to win (a Back bet) and then on a betting exchange they can
Bet on QPR to lose (a Lay bet). This works the same as the example above, but you are betting that QPR will both win and lose. This is so that you do not lose your own money, but can take one of the free bets that the site gave you to join.
There are other ways of doing it, but that's basically it. If you aren't comfortable doing it though you shouldn't. You should only risk money you can afford to lose
(look who's talking  )
And i hope the job is going better now and not so stressful.
Don't rush to clear your debts or you may trip and fall. It's not a race - it's a journey.
Hope you're doing okay.
Take care (and relax!!)
