OS Daily Thursday 21st August

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Thursday 21st August 2008.. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning peeps
guess who woke up on the sofa about ten to five
I don`t remember falling asleep but i discovered on walking into the kitchen that i hadn`t put the wm dw or bm on or in fact even loaded the dw:o
They are all humming away quietly in the kitchen now but the bm won`t finish on the economy 7 it will have switched over by then.
Yesterday i had the oven on for about 2 hours 45 minutes, i read the meter before and after and had used 7 units of electricity  i didn`t switch everything else off whilst i had the oven on but the only thing (besides the fridge and freezer which are on all the time) that was on at the same time was the telly. I thought that it would be quite a bit but i nearly keeled over when i saw how much it really was, roll on the arrival of my remoska!
To be fair the oven was stuffed with allsorts and i did quite a bit so i got the best use out of it, today i was planning on making some cakes and twinks but it`s put me off a bit so i`ll see how i feel later.
Can`t really tell what the weather will be like yet but it`s not raining yet, i may as well ignore the weather forecast as it changes almost by the hour, so much for all the latest equipment that is used, i could probably do a better job by guesswork or pulling bits of paper out of a hat
I would like a bit of dry breezy and sunny weather as i have a lot of thick hard to dry type stuff in the washing machine.
Right i`m off for another poke around the kitchen to see if anything else can be plugged in whilst it`s cheapie time.
SnowyOwl - hope that your feeling more upbeat this morning and that you haven`t eaten all that late night baking
Sybil - hope that you, your DH and little bear all had a good night and feel better today.
Have a great day peeps.

Morning all
Didn't sleep too well last night, I kept thinking about that terrible plane crash and all those poor families, it must have been playing on my mind, so this morning I feel knackered.
I have an ironing mountain that needs attending to at some point as I am running out of work clothes:rolleyes:I am off next week so I am trying to eek it out til then.
Popped to mr t's yesterday and ended up spending £30 on 'bits' I hate doing that especially when I have nothing really to show for it
Looks dull and overcast here but no rain as yet but no doubt we will get it soon, I am really fed up with this weather now, I feel sorry for the kids on school holidays unable to go outside to play, when I was a kid the summer holidays always seemed to be scorching
Still no news from the police so I think I will call them today and ask if they caught the b****rd. I hope you all have a good day x0 -
morning all

Happy Birthday Catznine hope you have a lovely day0 -
SnowyOwl - hope that your feeling more upbeat this morning and that you haven`t eaten all that late night baking:DErrr, no, didn't eat all the baking...just most of it:o Actually the scones were a bit minging as the flour had been in the cupboard a fair while. I used Sainsbury's supercheap value range flour and the scones taste a bit fusty and they didn't rise very well. However I used different flour for the twinks and they are yummy, can't keep my paws off them!
I'm still a bit upset that I didn't get the latest job I went for. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong in interviews - maybe I should develop a tap dance routine to impress whichever company is next? Twink...I am a lady therefore don't have a pecker!!;);)
Ageandjo - that aeroplane accident was awful. It puts my troubles into perspective. Those poor people, I just hope that they didn't suffer.
The cats are in silly mode at the moment. The poor little things are hungry - a certain someone forgot to get their food. I've got tuna and a little tray of Felix (a freebee) and will give those to them before I go to wo*k. They'll think it's their birthdays and Christmas wrapped up into one.
In the meantime I'm going for another lie down, it's still a bit early to be upright.
Bye everyone

Morning all
Off to work again soon, I worked til gone 3 yesterday instead of 1, not sure how long I'll work today. I popped into the Co-op yesterday for mushrooms & got a boned shoulder of lamb & a big pack of chicken pieces, both reduced, the lamb will do for Sunday lunch/tes. Hubby & BIL are starting work a 4:30 Sunday morning!!!!!
We've been invited to a christening by BIL2, a posh do, so I'll wear the suit & hat I wore to DD2's wedding last November, which is the same outfit I wore to DD1's wedding 7 years ago, lol. I have no idea what to take as a gift, whatever it is it won't be good enough.
Have a good day everyone
Hugs Hester

Morning all,
Bit overcast here today as well. DH just got home and he & DGS are watering the yard so that leaves Ninny free. We've got to get up early tomorrow morning as we leave here just after 7am. I'm helping XDIL & DGS get to the city as they are catching the train. They will be back Tuesday. Will pay our deposit for our holiday while I'm out. Made some passionfruit jam yesterday. Turned out well.
The council is working on our road outside our house this week so we should have bitumen in the next few weeks. :T The dust will be a lot less now. DSis goes back to the dr's Monday to get her chol results so I hope they are good. She's been really good.
Cat Hope you get a few more LO's soon.
Snowy Sorry to hear you missed out.
VickyA Let us know how you get on. Seems a bit odd.
I've got leftovers tonight for tea. Hope you all have a great day. <hugs> to those not well or down. ByeeeeeeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
Morning :hello:
Well I managed to send some important stuff to the accountant in a stamped envelope - with no address on  I realised when I got home and found the address sticker on the kitchen worktop  I rang RM and they said it's possible to get it back, I was surprised TBH, I thought I'd lost it forever.
I went to Iceland for some bits, their cheapest butter was £1  I wanted 4, I bought 1.
My mum's laptop is playing up, she's coming round today so I can fix it.
My poor animals haven't seen the grass for days, they've been in their big fixed-against-the-wall-with-rooves-on runs, but the bases are patio slabs. At least that'll keep their claws neatA couple of the piggies don't need it though, they keep their claws short by biting them lol.
Feeling peed off at the mo, think I'll eat lots of cake today.
Prayers for those who need themI am a coffee bean0 -
Have a pile of ironing to sort. Should put the darks in for a wash. Kitchen needs sorting out. But I don't care. The reason.....well, the doctors at the outpatients clinic at hospital have declared that my little girl is normal. They said that she's a perfectly normal nearly 2 year old. Interested in everything, acts like a sponge etc....
Still feels a little odd, but I"m so happy that it looks like we've escaped any serious effects. We still get some minor issues, but the doc thinks that we don't have anything serious to worry about. Yey. Lets party!Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move
Lily contracted Strep B Meningitis Dec 2006  Now seemingly a normal little monster.
Love to my two angels that I will never forget.0
