Ann Summers Organiser

  • hiya,
ann summers party plan is a really great way to make money, I organised parties for over a year until I stopped in january.

You are provided with a kit worth £500 which you pay a small rental fee on until you have ordered a certain amount of stock. If you want to add to your stock I used to use 10% of my earnings from every party even if it was only a novelty item you buy any addition is good as it encourages people to buy. (at my last party I told people I was finishing and gave them a chance to buy my ex-show items and I realised I had bought over £1000's worth of extra items!!)

If you are selling to family and friends etc outwith a party you make 33% commision (ie if something costs £30 when you order it you will be billed for £20 and then £10 is for you)

If you are selling at a party, the hostess recieves 10% of all sales which she has to use in the catalogue so you are making a minimum of 23%.

An average party for me was over £300 sales (£69 min in your pocket) and the highest ever was £1250 (£287 min in your pocket) this depends on the people and area but you would be surprised at where you will make the most money. In addition to the commision you earn most organisers also run a raffle if you sell 20 @ £1 a ticket that £20 in your pocket you need to offer a prize which you can buy really cheap when placing your orders as there are different "specials" every week.

The downside is that sometimes people change their mind and decide they don't want the stock although its very rare to lose a full party (this only happended to me once) even though you have ordered the stock you don't pay for it until the hostess has paid you so if the hostess cancels any order you simply return the goods which doesn't cost you anything (the hostess discount also decreases acordingly so she will be encouraging her friends to pay!!!)

This was a great money spinner for me and very enjoyable.

My main peace of advice for anyone starting out with ann summers is: DO NOT SPEND THE MONEY, it can be very tempting to dip into the money and make it up but ann summers will set you a credit limit on stock, so if you spend the cash and don't make it up your next order is unlikely to be sent to you hich causes unprofessional delays.

    hope this helps
  • I've been doing Avon just in my village since June. Only £14.00 outlay which you pay over the first 2 campaigns. Each campaign runs every 3wks. I receive orders between £200-£400 each campaign. 25% commission. Each campaign has earnt me between £50-£80 due to special offers also. Its not difficult once you have extablished a round and many of my customers drop their brochures/cash through my door. I also get to buy cheaper products that I use a lot such as shampoo, shower gels, some of which I have been putting away for birthdays/Xmas which has helped me & saved me a lot of money also. So perhaps you should consider this so that you will be in a better position this time next year with extra money coming in regularly. The worst bit is when it arrives and you have to sort out 20-30 orders and pack them. My daughter heps me with this thou' & receives a bit of my commission as it is a chore.
I am also considering Virgin Vie but the initial outlay is £150 for the kit which is a bit scary. But you have to speculate to accumalate I suppose.
I can give you no nonsense advice on Avon if you're interested.
  • one word : ebay!! It's amazing how much stuff you will find round your house to sell and more importantly people will buy! I make money regulary on there and have done so for few years. The result has been my debts are reduced, I have money for Xmas and my place is organised & clutter free. My friend works for A S and does make a living out of it but it's a full time job. To be honest it seems more outlay in the beginning and not something that can make you quick cash for Xmas. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

  • One of my friends has just recently finished doing Ann Summers parties and she's selling her old stock on ebay now!

One of the things she did was hold an Ann Summers party upstairs in the student union during the Halloween night (I asked her to) and we held the raffle in aid of charity for a Rampant Rabbit!

I was expecting uproar, but there wasn't! I think we took nearly £1000 worth of orders (we're a very small uni) in one night.

She told me you do have to pay £150-£200 for your kit to start off with, but it's quite a large kit. She's also told me that if your representative isn't nice (she had trouble her hers I think back home) then you're in for a rough ride.

Ann Summers parties can also be tailored between OBSCENE and very mild indeed. :)

Body Shop at Home are also very good. I try and organise a party through both Ann Summers and the Body Shop at least once every 3 months for all my friends. We live in the middle of nowhere, so seeing something like Body Shop stuff which we can't usually buy out here is quite a welcome change!

The Body Shop are also super ethical and it's a small set up cost and you work when you want to. I've got a party coming up this weekend with the local organiser, very good!
  • I have done both AS and VV - i have not done BS but i think it is ok

AS - you do rent your kit and the catalogues are very cheap - about 50p for 20. with AS you have the problem that you will always get someone at a party who doesn't want to buy anything (she is SOOO embarrased - why come!?) and its very specific with getting parties - not everyone wants that kind of party. That said, once you have a customer base you will find that you do parties for the same groups of people! Its a very fun company but to be honest, i found that although on paper i was making £75 a night - i wasn't!! Also when you calculate your time doing the hostess prep, pohne calls, deliveries, party, sorting stuff out etc you are barely making the minimum wage!

VV is different. its a very professionally run company (not that AS isn't) but there you are not there to have fun "you are a business!" The stuff they give you is excellent - good quality catalogues, headed paper, postcards for adverts, bags, pens, clipboards etc - but all at a cost! 20 catalogues is £6.20 (i think) BUT when you work out that you send 4 in a hostess pack and you might have 10 women at parties who want to take on home or who draw/write in it or spill salsa on it (yep that happens) it can be quite costly. PLUS with virgin you have either cosmetics or jewellery - which is great if you do both cos you can offer both types of parties but it means buying 2 lots of catalogues and updating 2 kits. PLUS they are constantly adding new products, you pay for delivery, all of your kit is consumable (you can't sell stuff without allowing people to try it - unlike ann summers!). The rewards are great tho - great trips, free products based on sales, different commission levels based on sales etc. I personally found that although i was top 5 in my region for sales for the whole time i was doing VV i never made a profit! I'm better off now than when i was doing it!

One thing i would say is if you live up north - GO FOR IT with party plan (northerners are much more sociable, more liberal people) but sales for the southern regions are crap!! The top sellers for both ann summers and VV live in Scotland, Yorkshire/humberside area and north east!

    Good luck though!!!

    Hi Debtfreedreamer,

In response to your query about earning extra cash - we run our own Kleeneze business and have helped loads of people to sort their debts out by earning extra cash. We even have a couple in their sixties who both work normal jobs but do Kleeneze as well and earn £800 per month in their spare time on a very part time basis. If you would like a free no obligation information pack please e mail me your details to sarah.pugh1@ntlworld.com
What have you got to lose ???

It's a good thing that you are looking to do something to earn extra cash most people need extra money but are too lazy to do anything about it !!

Good luck to you with whatever you choose to do.

  • Hi there,

I've been doing the same sort of "earning extra cash from home" with a different company that sells consumeable goods. The joy of that is you get repeat orders and don't have to keep finding new customers. You get between 35% and 48% profit on everything sold and whether you get cash on ordering or cash on delivery is completely up to you. The company supports people but it is really your own business and you decide how you want to run it. I have been doing it for a year now and found it absolutely brilliant with helping all sorts of people in different ways.

My one bit of advice would be that you need to find a company that offers support and also one whose products you feel quite passionately about. It's very easy to sell then. If you want any advice about this company or just about network marketing in general then drop me an email julia.m.thomspon@btopenworld.com

    Good luck!

    Julia
  • Thanks - I do live in the North East area....... I've heard that we have a rep for being "up for it" so I might do well with AS! :)
  • Hi Julia

I've tried to e-mail you twice but it bounced back.... is your address correct?
