  • Hello. I have been a party organiser for Ann Summers, The Body Shop and Virgin Vie. The first two were great earners, but Virgin Vie was a complete wash out.

In my experience though, whilst The Body Shop insisted on payment on the evening, Ann Summers did not (Unless things have changed very recently of course). You could pay on the evening if you wanted or you cold pay cash on delivery. That way you encourage people to spend more. The hostess (the lady who had given up her home for the evening) would then have to collect the money for you, for you to collect from her when you delivered the goods approx 1 week after the party. So there is not a lot of chasing around to do, you just deliver the order once you've confirmed she has the money.

For a 2 hour evening I would usually make about £75 after my costs. I would say that's not too bad! If you know what you're doing it really is easy money. The Body Shop earnings were very similar. However, the best earnings are always at Christmas, but people usually wanted their Christmas Ann Summers parties in November, so it may be a little late to join now with that in mind.

Joining does not cost anything with Ann Summers. You pay about £3 per week to rent the kit, but as soon as you've sold about £1200 worth of stuff (sounds a lot but I did it in about 3 weeks) then you stop paying. The kit does remain Ann Summers' property though. With the Body Shop you get about £350 stuff for around £80 although they have joining offers from time to time, and the stuff is then yours to keep.

Its worth a try, I think. Get in touch with them and see what you think, you can always say no.

  • Hi

I was an organiser for Ann Summser for two years and i really enjoyed it BUT you pay £3.50 a week kit rental which only supplies £500 approx of goods which is no where near the amount of stock they supply in the catalogue. You buy in extra stock and especially if they change the range, which happens twice a year?

    Expensive

The commission is not too bad as you buy the stock at 30% discount and the hostess gets 10%. It is policy now to pay on the night only!!!
But collection and delivery is a hassle! Most of your account can be run online.
There is lots of awards for you depending on your sales but if you have a power crazy unit organiser then knightmare

The tombola you have is all supplied by YOU! you buy the stock off your Unit organiser ( with some added on im sure!) to which you need to buy the equipment needed to play the games and also the raffle tickets!!

It is a costly outlay so unless you are going to stick with it then its no good for just over the christmas.

You also need to have 4 people willing to have parties to start up, it is like running you're own business so you only get out what you put in.

Plus and Minuses on all sides!
( sorry so long a post)
  • I also did A S for couple of years - was in top 3 out of 400 for most of it but people started getting silly - cancelling and stuff, so I jacked it in. I now have my own business with internet access. If anyone wants to know more or is interested in developing something that can be a "pipeline" (ongoing) not a "bucket" (hard work) email me for further info.

  • Hi,
I'm a Area Manager for Body Shop and have been a consultant with Body Shop since March. I love it!! Last night I did a party earned £20.00 on a raffle and earned about £75 commision on my sales. I was out about 2 and half hours! Now is the time to join party plan as its Christmas. There are different ways of joining.... but they are worth it!
    Good luck!

  • Hi Debtfreedreamer,

In response to your query about earning extra cash - we run our own Kleeneze business and have helped loads of people to sort their debts out by earning extra cash. We even have a couple in their sixties who both work normal jobs but do Kleeneze as well and earn £800 per month in their spare time on a very part time basis. If you would like a free no obligation information pack please e mail me your details to sarah.pugh1@ntlworld.com
What have you got to lose ???

It's a good thing that you are looking to do something to earn extra cash most people need extra money but are too lazy to do anything about it !!

Good luck to you with whatever you choose to do.

  • Hi this is my first post so sorry if I mess up. I don't know about many party organisers but I became a body shop at home consultant in June this year and have yet to find a down side to it.

You get a large amount of kit for very little money
You work as and when you want to (it fits in nicely with all situations, many consultants are mums, I work fulltime and do this for extra money in the evenings)
You get a nice commission, its pay on the night so you don't have to chase money & you get paid the money on the night, and also earn on any new people you bring into the business - you earn money without doing anything. You also win all your kit (for display only - you place orders from parties tobe delivered for you) for the next month as long as you reach a ridiculously low sales level so you rarely have to pay out but when you do the products are very subsidised. I am currently working towards winning a trip to New York for my husband & I paid for by the body shop at home (current competition).

As I said I have yet to find a downside!
