I am just saying that there has never been once when at a party in the past or recently have we ever had to pay on the night. It has always been on delivery

I did it 18 months ago and you could pay on the night or give it to your hostess in time for when the goods were delivered. Could have changed now, but do they not still hand out the hostess envelopes for her to collect money in? Why would they do that if all the moeny was taken on the night?

  • At the party i went to the other night the money was collected there then, You could pay either by credit/debit card, cheque or cash. Perhaps they let you pay on delivery cos they knew and trusted you etc?

    Hi

Great idea to research this... I am looking for something extra to help the credit card bills... but due to working full time I was thinking of something that I can do when I have time instead of fixed days. I work shifts so the days rotate and are not the same each week. I don't know if I would be cut out for 'repping' at a party, but if anyone has any ideas I would be very grateful.

    Dear EmLoo,

I am involved in recommending Natural Health & Nutrition products, which are based primarily on Aloe Vera. You run it as your own business and it works around you & your available time. There is minimum initial outlay, the commission on your orders is 30% and it doesn't have to be party-based.
The customers also have a money-back guarantee which means they are more likely to try the products as they have nothing to lose.
The best thing is the great feeling you get from helping people.

However, as it is a network marketing business, you also have the opportunity to build residual income for the long term. I would be happy to pass on any information I can if you are interested, and also on network marketing in general.

Good Luck in whatever you choose
  • What are other peoples experiences of doing home parties? Im thinking of signing up to body shop at home, only my worry is getting parties!

  • Ann Summers is the No 1 Party Plan company in the UK.

It is payment on the night - therefore you do not have to chase customers for money. Even when that was not the case - it was the hostesses responsibility to collect the money?

You are given a £500 Kit FREE of charge and asked to pay a rental of £3.50 a month until you bank £1200.00, which most reps do within 2 months!

You can invest in you kit by buying more items if you want, the more you have to show the more you will sell, like any buisness! It is your choice if you want to buy any products in the catalogue.

You do have to pay for your travelling expesnes like any sales job but the averidge earnings is between £40-£60.00 a party. I recently joined Ann Summers and the least I have made in any night is £35.00 and that was with only 5 guests attending and buying at a party and the most I made was £120.00 this is for 2/3 hours work so I can only sing its praises.

It is a fun and flexable job which I would recomend to anyone - if you want more info just let me email me, Ann Summers is always recruiting!
  • Ann Summers has changed - since June it is Pay on the Night, some reps may still trust you to pay on delivery but Ann Summers is now changing the accounts process, so don't know if these Reps will continue to operate in this manner?

Reps were given 7 days to bank the CASH and Credit Cards this is now chaning from the 1st of March so if the money is not in the account the delivery will not be sent. In many ways this is easier for the Reps as they know exactly what their wages will be instead of making errors and spending what they think is theirs!
  • I worked for ann summers but i had to quit as i had depression and trying to juggle family life and ann summers was impossible the only way i would of made a success of myself was if i put ann summers first and pushed my family aside which i was not gonna do. the reason why i say its a con is i gave my starter kit back to the unit organiser yet im still getting charged for it and where i refuse to pay for something i have not got they have added charges to it and now im over £1000 in debt with them and i know friends of mine its happened to aswell so anyone wanting to join just be careful just in case the same happens to you

I was a Virgin Vie consultant for a while, this enabled me to get my fix of cosmetics etc whilst earning money :D

    Good points

    1) Good comission, a £600.00 party used to earn me £150.00 in comission.
    2) Good to get out of the house and have a girly night
    3) Good incentives for the very high party sales, especially at Christmas

    Bad points

    1) You have to pay and order the goods, using a credit or debit card plus pay postage and packing, it's hard not to not spend the money from customers if you use your current account. Unless you have a business account it's hard to keep the money seperate.

    2) High sales targets to achieve as a team and individually

    3) Hard to break out of circle of friends to get parties booked. Family and friends willl be supportive to get your buisiness going whereas if you do a party for a stranger they may see it as a 'free night in' with facial/make-up with no intention of buying anything. You can spend 30 minutes with someone adivising them, they may try 12 lipsticks and buy nothing, meanwhile you are not getting paid a penny.

    4) Virgin Vie kept on discontinuing items and putting prices up and customers were not happy. You have to buy the items for your kit too, although you get a discount. I also think the jewellry is over-priced.

So to summarise, I mostly enjoyed it but it was not a big money-making business for me. Edited to say, some of this may have changed since I left.
