I don't know what Stollen is.
  • Stollen is tasty cake. Lidl pomodoro and basilico tomato pasta sauce ( 69p ) got best in test in Sunday Express magazine. It beat M&S, Waitrose, Morrisons and Tesco.

    I'll second this.

They are a "deluxe" version and are more expensive than almost everywhere else, including Sainsburys.

However they are not made from "reconstituted" meat or "reformed" like most of the others.

These are whole breasts that haven't been messed with.

OH NO ! THEY'VE STOPPED DOING THEM !

Went in on Saturday to buy some and they were not there.

I asked and the girl confirmed that the entire range was in the freezer !!!

There is a reconstituted variety but none of the Premium Whole Breast sort.

Looks like there is a "new" Kiev-less Premium range that has whole breasts but they are not coated in breadcrumbs and now come in a foil tray.
There are 3 varieties from what I could see. Either stuffed or with a flavoured butter.
Something like "cheese & chive" , one wrapped in Prosciutto and a 3rd that I can't remember.
To be honest I wasn't taking much attention - I was recovering from the shock of making such a terrible discovery.
    I'M DEVASTATED !

If that's the case then I'll be devastated too! They had a few in our Aldi yesterday. The odd thing is that in the last few weeks they'd introduced a couple of new types, one with a red pepper filling, the other with brocolli and cheese - these were just as good (if not better) than the original.

But are these new ones a Kiev style "breadcrumb coated" version like the "original" (but with a different filling) in a cardboard box ?
    Or as I described previously - un-coated in a foil tray ?

Yes. Though they seem to have disappeared now.

Update (11 Oct): still not looking good, they only had a handful left this afternoon.
