  • Hello, new here and thought I'd share with you.

Lidl sells a 70% cocoa chocolate, 100 g for 65p. Its superb for cooking with. I go to Lidl just to buy this at 20 bars a time, its so good!

also, tomato puree, tinned toms, ham (which is lovely) and the special offers.
    See you!
  • Sorry if this has already been posted, but Lidl's Lasagne from the chiller is absolutely delicious. It was also recommended as the best in a Woman's weekly magazine some months back. Try it, you'll love it!

    Update 14 Febuary

This thread has now been turned into an updated article. Click here to read the What's hot and what's not at Aldi/Lidl/Netto article.

These three supermarkets are massively cheaper than mainstream supermarkets, yet there's a snobbery about using them. To help others save this hunt is for both 'what' and 'what not to' buy at Lidl, Aldi and Netto.

Obviously if you're skint then you may need to buy all things there, but this is more about compiling views on what to use them for and what not to.

newbie here hi guys i have shopped at aldi leeds for the last 14 years the staff are mostly the same people from when they openned the store they are helpful and efficient and really friendly . I always buy their electrical stuff as it is cheap and well worth its money but the best thing is 3yr warranty. beth

Anyone tried the non bio powder from Lidl, called Formulil or something like in a light blue box, huge box 57 washes I think? Is it any good, any info appreciated. Thanks.
hi i use this and have done for the last couple of years. gets everything nice and clean- even my son's napppies. It doesn't have a strong fragrance but i don't mind that

  • Have been using Lidl in Morden for a couple of years now and love it
    Especially like the:
    Chilled 1KG Lasagne - delicious
Route 66 Yeast Extract - Just like Marmite
Dry Catfood - Cats eat it so must be OK
Their Iseree skin care range (I used to use Clinique so know quality when I see it)
Very cheap fruit and veg as well

We also shop at Netto in Mitcham which is a bit scruffy but loads of bargains there too, especially fresh chicken and frozen stuff.

We've recently discovered Aldi which we've found is excellent all round. They were planning to build one locally but got turned down by our stupid council - who seem concerned only that it will affect local shops like Londis and Co-op who's prices are extortionate.
  • The Aldi Lacura nail varnish is excellent. Limited range of colours, but it dries very quickly and is hard wearing

    Lidl - Kegs of beer - see posts 939 & 940

    Has anyone tried these ??
do you need any special fittings/adaptors/gas cylinders to get the beer from those little kegs ? Do you have to drink it all in one session or will it keep for a bit ?

You don't need any extra equipment; it's all ready to go. I'd suggest finishing the keg in one session, though, because it'll go stale if you keep it for longer. Invite a friend or two.

Next weekend I think I'm allowed out (or in) - £9 it's got to be done
