    Whats good:

Tuna (ecuador is best, check metal stamp on tins), Chicken in white sauce, pasta, pesto, gerkins, bread, fruit & veg, most fresh meats, frozen meats, Emmental, Feta, mozzarella, shaving gel, most of the own brand cleaners including fabric freshener and balsam washing up liquid, red wine, soap, tube of Pringle type crisps esp paprika flavour, Ecuador plantation chocolate, fair trade chocolate, cereals including cornflakes and cheap weetabix type things, baby shampoo

    Whats not:

Tea, Brown sauce, potato salad, chilled potatoes with sour cream/chive sauce, cottage cheese, smoked cheese

Lidl don't seem to have tuna fish in veg oil anymore only in brine which I don't like.

i am a bit of a food snob but i am now due to this thread finding soo much that is really enjoyable in this shop.
HOWEVER thier blasted stollen is to blame (along with my willpower) for a 1lb weight gain at ww this week :-( (was worth every bit though :-))

I was put on to Aldi/Lidl (no Netto nearby) by one of the world's biggest food snobs - my Mum - and have converted a number of food snob friends! We're all quite happy to serve up Aldi/Lidl products on a table alongside Booths or the local deli or farmshop.

The stollen is as good as any I've had even the so called 'extra special/best/whatever' in the other supermarkets. When it comes into stock I like it for breakfast!

  • I asked in two different Lidls and they said we only have tuna in brine.Pity cos I like their tuna in oil can't remember if it's vegetable or sunflower.

Perhaps it depends on which part of the country you are in mabye stocks vary.

Could do, or it could be that it is discontinued, but the local store here still had stock.

This is Nixe Tuna Steaks in Sunflower Oil. Red label on the tin.

It was the only tuna I liked as the others in Lidl and elsewhere including well known brands are losing the taste they once had.

This one tasted like how it should taste.
