The Continent's favourite beans are Haricot Beans, the sort we bake in UK tend to be Navy Beans from USA.

Drasticplastic, welcome to MSE, you don't have to be dishlexic on here but most of us find it helps.

Lidl
The 95p sausages are fairly good My tip is Do a couple of packets of them on the Lidl £1.30 disposable barbecue.
The Moordale Gourmet Burgers are good too.
The Feta Cheese is nice.
The Large Tin of Ravioli is excellent.
The Tinned Tuna in Sunflower Oil is good.
The Chicken and Veg Cup of Soup is good.
Their Yoghurt is usually good and decent value
You can pick up a a four pack of the probiotic stuff for around 80p
The 12 pack Lidl Sondey chocolate butter bisuits are delicious exactly the same as the more expensive Bahlsen 9 pack you get from other supermarkets.
The Maionaisse is great.Their soups are excellent and cheap too.
You can pick up Branston Baked Beans 4 pack for £1.
Currently you can pick up Six Cans of Pepsi for £1.You can't knock that sort
of offer.I know a guy who has a fish and chip shop and he shops in Lidl
because in some cases it's probably cheaper than the Cash And Carry
At the same time though some things in Lidl aren't so cheap so shop around
Even Sainsburys can have cheaper offers at some points.June Wins : Pair of MGM Expo Tickets,6 VIP Tickets Isle Of Wight Festival,Samsung N130 Netbook, Two Night Trip To Cologne, Royal Mail King George Stamp set July Wins : Pair of One day Wireless Festival Tickets, Ryobi Goal and Football. We've found the Ravioli bolognese in a big tin from Lidl's lovely, even the kids eat it!
Also cheese and onion sandwich filler
the cold meats are excellent
the big fresh lasagne
the 12 little fromage frais for the kids, they are brill and very good value at £1 odd.
strawberry jam
peach and passionfruit big pot of yoghurt
their own Disorano (amoretto) is actually really nice too
frozen fish fingers are much nicer than the bisdseye ones
kids toothbrushes are only 80p or so for 3 and are bright and fun for them
cheese and chive waffle crisps, great
choc raisins are good as are all their own brand choc equivalents (mars, bounty, snickers)
God reading that back all we buy is rubbish:rolleyes::AKyle 03.04.04

Have to say I'm disappointed with recent moves by Aldi and Lidi towards big brands. There were reports a few months ago that the big names (P&G/Unilever, Coke, Pepsi etc,. were pressuring them in Germany where customer preferred lower bills to big names. I started shopping there precisely because there was little choice in other supermarkets - the same products in all. It was exciting seeing the wider choice of brands from differenr parts of Europe. But they've been succumbing to pressure: several items I got used to in Lidl have disappeared. Most recently we started buying litre cartons of smoothies, made in Germany. Then Innocent started crowding them out and now the German ones have gone- even though they were half the price of Innocent! So I refuse to buy these big brands. Alongside is now a large area of Tropicana, even though there are already excellent German juices.
But most serious of all: what's happened to the glorious (and cheap) Bourbon vanilla ice-cream (the 2.5 l blue tubs)??!! Maybe it's just temporary while they have some special Italian ice-creams, but as it coincided with the arrival of lots of rubbish Walls and Cadbury products I suspect not. Perhaps it's just regional?
I do object to these big companies muscling in and denying me choice.0 -

Hmmm, tbh I've noticed very few 'known' brands in Aldi so far thank goodness.Stompa0 -
