  • I have bought their pate for years its about 80p for two small packs and its lovely, also the Black Forest Ham, very strong tasting but I chopped it up and added it to a casserole as an extra flavour, also put in a roast with chicken, is cured so lasts ages and can be added to allsorts

Avoid LIDL red grapes, theya re sour, small and rotten, and ALDI cloudy diet lemonade, which used to be lovely now tastes like washing up liquid:mad:

I am not impressed with the 99p milk, I opened some, went away for 48 hours and when I came home it was cheese. the date on it was Thursday as well. If I buy milk from Sainsburys its still ok the day after the use by date. Was parched as well from a long motorway drive. Luckily I had bought some Lidl UHT in for such emergencies :rotfl:

I never have any problem with Lidl milk going sour. I keep it in the fridge for a week or more. Car boots can get very hot in the sun so I do use a cold box to transport. I use a fridge thermometer to set the optimum temperature..
I notice that Aldi are also selling milk for 99p.
I don't recommend Aldi grape juice, watery and an odd taste.I'll stick with Lidl or Netto orange juice in future.
if i had known then what i know now

How about Lidl tinned salmon? Do they sell the brand(s) other stores sell? I suppose the quality is the same anyway? Please can somebody tell me the current price and what size tin. Thanks.

Yesterday bought one of the £4.49 herb-encrusted salmon sides from Aldi. It was delicious and enough to feed 5 people.

We tried one of the Aldi £4.99 part boned stuffed whole duck (stuffed with chicken, apples and cider). Absolutely delicious and fed 4 adults adequately.

In aldi try the lemon dusted sole (frozen) and the lamb shanks very nice

Agree about the Lemon Dusted Sole it's nice, especially with steamed potatoes and peas. The lamb shank I've tried, it's lovely and tender, although the portion is small when you exclude the weight of the (rather large!) bone. I prefer the frozen half leg of lamb. It's far better value, available from both Aldi and Lidl.

Yeah but have you noticed the stollen in Aldi is much softer than the one in Lidl, they're both about the same price? The one in Lidl's rock hard to the touch (try giving it a squeeze next time you're in ....) whereas Aldis is softer, and appears fresher. Aldi for the win methinks .... Love their Genoa Bar Cake with the nuts and cherries on top too, but I missed it last Christmas 09. :(
