Great What/What Not to Buy at Lidl, Aldi and Netto Hunt

Pianola brand fruit yoghurt - 8x125gm pots for £1 - is deliciously tart and fruity with big fruity 'bits' in it.
Tiramisu dessert - 2 pots for 72p. Oh my!
Kristkindl Gluehwein - YUM - I think it's £3.69/bottle. I loved it when I lived in Berlin some 10-15 years ago; I love it just the same now. I find it is so 'thick' that I dilute it 50:50 with water or orange squash before heating it in a mug. I must remember to save up and buy a case before they run out of stock!
The Indian frozen ready-meals were on offer a couple of weeks ago at £1.19 each for Korma, Balti and Jalfrezi. They are DEE-LICIOUS, but unfortunately now at full price, £1.99.0 -
I can recommend Lidl Dry Roasted Peanuts, their Piccalilli and their thick white loaf. Just bought a few things today from Lidl's - cost was £4.46 - the equivalent in Tesco £7.39. Amazing....
The Indian frozen ready meal Korma tastes exactly like the one from my local Indian Takeaway - spot on.Everyone has a photographic memory, it's just some of them don't have film.0 -
At Lidl - J20 drinks bottles £5 for 12 plus 2 free glasses with it. Bargain!
Lidl are starting to do a lot more of the branded items whcih is good news and getting in new customers, But give their own brands a chance! My DH works there and is always bringing home something for us to try - and its usually great.0 -
Just been munching on this!
It's not as crunchy as other bombay mix I've had. But it's certainly not bad for the price, and is no worse than "average" (probably better). My mouth is burning as expected
Must correct myself as that was a drunken response. I wasn't expecting the raisins (or sultanas or whatever) - never had them in the other bombay mixes I've tried! Everything else seems perfectly crunchy (except the big bits which is normal). Very nice stuff it is.
Our Aldi was also selling some very nice 500ml bottles for fellow ale lovers - at £1.19 each - Wychwood White Wych and Black Wych (the black especially is a gorgeous stout). I also really liked Schöfferhofer wheat beer, at the same price. Would definitely get them again.0 -
I'm sure this belongs in a thread, but as a relative noob I cannot find it...
Anyway...
Just went into Lidl and nearly fell over when I noticed that there thick sliced white bread is just 30p!! That is half what I have been paying for basic bread anywhere else! It's really nice bread too

Re Netto - one thing that is vital is not to rely on the posted prices on the goods, the leaflets or even on the shelves.
For instance I've just come back from Netto and the following were all to my advantage - 4 x kitchen paper towels (own brand) price posted on shelf 99p - price on receipt 78p
500 gm green seedless grapes from Brazil - price on punnet £1.49; price on shelf and on receipt 49 p (dated 17 November - they won't last that long in this household!).
Flora margarines 500 gm £1 - special offer was supposed to end on 2 November but my local Netto still has them at this price today. And so on ...0 -
Aldi - Whole Scottish Langoustines 1 kilo £8.99 - bargain0
