Not good - or not good value

Most wine -it's OK but no cheaper than competitors and often more expensive
    Crispbreads ugh!
    Frozen peas
    garlic bread
Not keen on the fruit and veg - whilst cheaper, it doesn't last -probably as it's mostly imported
    Sliced bread

Not had the frozen peas for a while, but they always used to be very good.

As for the fruit and veg, I think it depends on the store, as for a supermarket the fruit and veg lasts longer than other supermarkets and is very good quality.

Many of the items are British, granted not all due to their nature.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

BexTech - thanks for your comments about Tesco Express. Had a quick look around one of these stores recently. Seems like any reduction sticker items are found per particular aisle (not all together) at least at lunch time. Also, "value" items in some things.

  • my BF loves DAB beer, he saw a 'kegg' style in an Aldi mag once and beged me to get it if i ever saw it in the store, but they never even have the cans of it either, we always have to go to our local Bargain Booze (about £3.50 for 4 cans)
I love the Lasagne from the chiller section, and the fajhita and nacho kits, much much cheaper than the ol del paso/discovery make.

Went to Aldi for the first time. Very impressed.

    Tried and liked:
Pack of 2 gammon steaks £1.99
Huge frozen continental apple tart 1.25KG £2.99 We ate it cold but can be cooked from frozen also.
Peanut clusters 250g £1.49 - I ate the lot in 2 days Mmmmm

    Bought but not yet tried
Frozen Whole Sea Bass 1 kg (3 to 5 fish - checked my box to have 5) £7.99
  • Good lady has recently switched to Lidls' washing(laundry) liquid Formil, its cheaper than tesco own brand, and smells good too.
Also just tried the W5 dishwasher tablets and noticed no difference to Finish even glasses.

I love my local LIDL (& Aldi). Their chocolates are lovely. Only trouble is that I keep buying choccies for my Xmas cupboard and then eating them! It is costing me a fortune so I will have to stop shopping there. I have told hubby to hide them and not to let me have them but he gives in!

yesterday from LIDL, I got some lovely Christmas musical boxes filled with individually wrapped chocolate teddy bears. There are 2 sorts - 'Brahms Lullaby' or 'Oh Christmas Tree' at 99p each.

word of warning, 3 of them that I picked up didn't have the turning handle at the side!
