Great What/What Not to Buy at Lidl, Aldi and Netto Hunt

I am amazed at how cheap and quick my weekly shop was this week. I usually shop at Tesco but read these pages and decided to try LIDL.
I did the shopping in half the time and when I got back I compared it to TESCO Online prices using their own brands as the comparison price and I spent £62 instead of £90!
The contents were mainly food and so far the taste test is going well.
My other half and I polished off the milk chocolate bar that cost 0.25p that was the size of a £1 tesco bar and it tasted excellent, along the lines of expensive swiss chocolate.
The kids love the chocolate biscuits and the Tea cakes 0.65p are the best we have had in years. Dare I say this, but I think they are better than M&S ones (however I would call them currant buns as they are very fruity).
The sweet potatoes came in at £1.21 and these cost £2.60 for the same weight in Tesco and were fab too.
The bananas are from Columbia and look great.
I am amazed!
We were not expecting such great quality but so far we can't fault them. Of course there is another 6 days worth of meals to make and if I come across anything we don't recommend I will post them on here.
We are both amazed.
Some things were not available such as rocket pesto which we like and Kronenburg or big bags of porridge oats but will learn from this and do a monthly shop for these types of items at a main supermarket.
Next week we will add baby wipes and nappies to the shop and see what these are like.
Thank you to everyone who has posted on this subject as you have taught me something new, saved me money and saved me time which in turn saved my littlest one from her usual screaming fit half way round!
A fantastic result.0 -
Well done!
Search Lidls for (I think) 500gm bags of porridge oats - they are lovely. Very creamy even when made only with water - on the mornings I feel like being really healthy!

The luxury fruit museli is really nice. Loads of fruit either 40 or 50% I think, and it has. Didn't eat muselli before this, but have it every day now.0

The spiced biscuits they do for Xmas are yummy, they do boxes or packets for 79p but get the packets they are almost double the amount. Also I get organic milk there can be hard to find in other supermarket's and when you do the date is always much shorter than Lidl. There tinfoil is excellent too can't remember the last time I bought it anywhere else.Booo!!!0

Bought the gingerbread biscuits too today...I think they were called Libechecken or something like that...,
Lebkuchen.
Pronounce: Lehp - koo - chen, with "ch" pronounced like "ch" in Scottish Loch.
I luv'em. Recommendation: LIDL's Lebkuchen Hearts, and their Hearts, Stars and Pretzels pack. Plain gorgeous.0
