I use Lidl for most of my shopping, but I haven't yet tried anything from the fish range.. I'm wondering if anyone could tell me whether the smoked salmon and the kippers are nice?
    Thank you! :D

The smoked salmon is excellent. I've not tried the kippers.

A cuttent favourite is the Lidl mini Bries. They come in blue, pepper garlic and yoghurt (?) varieties and cost 75p each, which is a lot cheaper than Bresse Bleu or Cambozola. I've not tried the youghurt one but the other three are delicious and perfect for a Christmas cheese board.

On the topic of Christmas, I can recommend the Lidl Pannettone. My kids adore it (it's just a big fancy fruit bread) and we get through one a week at least when they have them in stock.
    Val.
  • I buy the caramel squares when they have them at the reduced price something like 59p I think.

They are a bit sickly mind you.
  • Like others we buy the Lidl caramel squares when they're reduced and then cut them in half!

If these Lidl caramel squares are the ones I am thinking of and yes I've seen them reduced to 59p too, the ones with chocolate on the top and a crumbly base, I love them, it was friends buying them who loved them too who got me hooked on them, yes if you eat the 4 segments in one go they are a little sickly, but if you eat 2 at a time, then they are wonderful.

I ate half a one of those caramel squares the other day and will not be buying them again. They don't taste very nice to me.

I do like the fish in pastry from the frozen section in Lidl - prefer the salmon one. It is very nice and £1.39 for two portions.

Their breaded haddock in the red box is really good and I always get it from Lidl.

    We really like them.

Just goes to show, you can't always go by recommendation, some people may like them, others may not.

Totally agree. My four year old likes them so he is having the rest of them in halves - it may take a while....

The only true way to know what something is like is to try it for yourself. I have this philosophy with alot of stuff from food to films!! Stuff the critics - I like what I like!! ;)
