Candygirl Does your Dad have a Macmillan or Marie Curie nurse? Or maybe your GP could speak to the District nurses & hospital to make them realise.....sometimes they don't actually stop to think about what they are asking & just need to be reminded of the patient's condition & ability to travel.
Do you have a local hospice that can help? He may be able to go there for his bloods or even just for daycare - my mum used to go to her local hospice for baths after her mastectomy, as she couldn't manage one by herself. She also used to go for days out with them, and to have reiki done!0 -

I'm a little worried about my right leg. Ever since we got back from our hol, my right foot and lower leg has been a little "puffy". It's gone down a bit, but it's definitely more "puffy" than the left one. I'm thinking that maybe I should try to get a doctor's appointment?
Is your leg painful? Definitely a good idea to get it checked out - I got diagnosed with a blood clot in my leg in May. It was swollen and painful and I thought I'd pulled a muscle, but it just didn't seem to be getting any better. I went along to the walk-in centre and 4 hours later, after 2 nurses and a doctor had told me it was probably a pulled muscle but they'd do some tests just to be sure, it turned out to be a blood clot. I don't want to panic you, I'm sure yours will turn out to be nothing more than some fluid retenton, but it's always best to get it checked out, even if it's just to set your mind at ease that it's nothing serious.
Hope everyone's having a good day. Needed my shades on to drive to work this morning as that funny yellow orb thing had appeared in the skyIt's gone away again now though

Rain to-day has only been a sprinkle so have clothes on the line....am leaving them there until they dry as the house is full of damp clothes.
Mackerel, potatoes, spinach and probably carrots for dinner.
Nothing happening here to-day...might raid the garden to see if there are any more veggies ready...red cabbage is doing well...might be nice cooked with couple cooking apples and honey....mmmm
Have a good day all

Morning everyone and thank you SOMO1 for starting the thread (don't tell me it's afternoon again... where did the day go?)
ageandjo - I am glad your OH's scan went well
Floss2 - scattering beads sounds lovely on your dress, and it will look so special when it's done!
Pennypincher - Hope the party goes well and you have fun
pippa S - Have a fab time, I am so jealous, I can't wait to see that movie!
Big hugs for betheebee, jannyannie and family, Annie and Mark, Kaat-lady, Squiggly and DD.
My house has ground to a halt somewhat today. My OH came home from work feeling pretty grim yesterday and went to bed and is still bad today. At first I teased him about man flu but he rarely takes to his bed and the poor thing really is poorly. His joints are hurting so much he kept waking us both up groaning in the night. He is my carer as well as my darling OH so today I will be eating cold things from the fridge as I cannot stand long enough to cook! I managed to make him some dry toast though - he won't eat anything else.
Have rung the surgery and they are going to try and get the district nurse up to change my dressings, as Ian usually does that for me too. Poor guy, I hate to see him feeling so rough.
Anyway, hugs to anyone else who needs one and congratulations to anyone who is celebrating a birthday

Have two machine loads of washing on the line outside so hope it does not rain.
Will have to go to the supermarket later and get some fish and veg for tea.
Could not believe what had happened to Lou of "loving hands" and glad she has pulled through. I always DH was a bit over the top when he keeps going on about getting a new house that is more convenient and a walk in shower room etc for when we get older as we are only in our fifties but it is scary how easily accidents can happen.
DD(14) has gone to York with a friend and other DD(19) is just about to go to Leeds so at some stage it should be nice and peaceful!!!!
I need to phone the delivery place at 4p.m. to find out when the new double bed is being delivered tomorrow and have ordered a chocolate leather headboard from Tesco in the sale (£25 off and free delivery!) The headboard should arrive on Sunday!
The wind chime outside the front door has lost all it's "chimes" so might get a new one and see if "Feng Shui" will get us a buyer for the house!!!;)"This site is addictive!"

Hi everyone.
Elona - Lou's accident was terrible. She even posted a picture on Loving Hands when it first happened, never knowing what was in store for her. She just treated is a silly accident but obviously infection set in and, at one point, there was only a 50% chance that she'd pull through. The loss of an eye is awful but she'll be so glad it wasn't both of them - even the other eye was in doubt until they did tests. She is doing remarkably well, considering all she has been through. We are so relieved because she sounds like such a lovely caring lady.
MoneysavingDiva - (((hugs))) to your DH. I hope he feels better soon.
VickyA - I also don't want to worry you but PLEASE get your leg checked out asap.
Well, I had my lunch while I watched the news and then must have dozed off because the postman has just rung my bell and woken me up! I don't know how long I'd have stayed asleep because I was well 'gone' in the land of nod!
Well, must get back to work!
See you all later.

Afternoon all,
I have had a lovely morning pottering in the garden, I have made up two more of my raised beds, ready for my winter veggies, and have started to have a good tidy of the pots etc, cut back my redcurrant which really needed it, I suppose I had done about half, when the heavens opened and I had to have a quick tidy and make a dash back indoors, I got one load of washing nearly dry. This has got to have been the worst summer for ages, I should be able to spend all day in the garden at this time of the year, but I am lucky if I get an hour now.
DD had gone off to town with sis, so i am going to have a sit for an hour, then have a soak in the bath.
Diva, hope your dh feels better soon x
That poor lady from loving hands, I do hope she is better soon x
Have good afternoons all x0 -
Afternoon everyone,
i`ve been out walking the fields for a couple of hours with the houndies which was lovely as the rain has kept away and we have actually seen some sunshine.
I took my time and the little oldie got plenty of time to lie down and rest as i was blackberry picking, i got some lovely berries and if the weather is ok i might just go back again tomorrow for some more.
I popped to the local shops for some fruit and veg and forgot my purse so i had to come all the way home and go all the way back againthe lady in the shop was so kind and put everything to one side for me as it had already all been rung through the till before i realised.
Lots of things are ready in the kitchen so when the oven goes on later it will be chocka! I have a chicken with sage, onions and garlic in one tin, a ham hock and bay leaves with garlic in another, rump steak with onions, mushrooms and garlic on a tray and red peppers courgettes onions and garlic on another tray to roast. I have par boiled potato wedges cooling in a pan and i`ve no idea where they are going to fit :rotfl:
Tea will be wedges, steak onions and mushrooms with the roasted veg and honeydew melon and strawberries for dessert. The strawberries were actually half the price of the supermarket so i`m very pleased about that.
I found out what the problem is with my courgette plants on the greenfingered board and i`ve now bought some epsom salts and dissolved them in water and sprayed the leaves so hopefully they will perk up now.
When i came in with the bag of blackberries i plonked them on the pine drawers just inside the doorway and the juice has gone through the bag and stained the top  i`ve got a lot of it off but it still looks red in places
i`m glad it will be replaced as the small hound chewed it a bit when she was really young:o
WMF - both of our dogs had a rash on there tummies, it kept coming and going and drove us mad for a while but it turned out to be where they had been running in the grass and the tops of the blades and seeds had been irritating them underneath, could this be the same with yours?
I`m off back into the kitchen for a while before i need to get the rest of the hw done, catch up later peeps.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -
Afternoon, didn't make it on here yesterday, we went to the Trafford Centre. I was looking for some shoes for Miss Twit and I to wear to a wedding where we are the bridesmaids
I found a pair that fit me in New Look, but they didn't have Miss Twit's size, so I'll have to have a ring round.
Been to work this morning and had a brake pipe replaced on my car, o it has now passed it's MOT.
I need to get my A into G and catch up on some housework before Mr Twit arrives home on Thursday night.
Big Hugs to those in need.
