OS Daily Wednesday 20th August 2008

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Wednesday 20th August 2008.. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Good morning everyone, it's dry today :j

Work again today, DH is getting new tyres put on today £250

I know it's really early, but I've started buying a few things for Christmas each week - just a couple of quid's worth, so far I have got sausagemeat (in the freezer) bread sauce, gravy, goosefat and 20 cans of coke. Also after the success of knitting Father Christmas last year, I've made a start on knitting Mrs Claus; just got her skirt and shawl and then she's finished :T

Anyway back to the reality of now ;) Have taken some pork mince out of the freezer for tea. Need to iron some trousers and make a sarnie in a bit and then cycle off to work.

Have a great day everyone (((((hugs)))))
Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )
Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)

Morning SOMO1 and all that follow:j

Yet another grey day here but apparently we are in for a sunny weekend  believe it when I see it.
have ran out of tea bags so I have coffee this morning, I only drink tea first thing in the morning, I must add them to my shopping list whilst I remember.
I have all of next week off :j :j I am not too sure what I am going to do but hey it beats working:D OH's scan went well the other day, there were no blockages or anything suspect in his neck so he has to wait for another test on his heart to see if that shows up anything  still a bit of a worrying time. The police havent been back since they took mug shots of OH's face on Saturday, I hope they contact us soon just to let us know what's going on.
Have a good day everyone xx

Good morning! Wow, another day of not being able to hang out laundry! We freecycled our dryer when we moved, and I know it was a good decision at the time, but oh there are days when I hate hanging towels up to dry inside!!

Hoping to get through today as a NSD. We are having turkey stirfry for tea, and I've taken a chicken out to thaw in fridge to cook tomorrow. The only thing I can think of that we really need is bread, so I may just get myself in gear and make some today. That'll stall a day or two until we need milk as well. I hate going into the shop for just bread, as we always walk out with more.

ageandjo - glad OH's scan went well, although I'm sure you will still be worrying until everything has been thoroughly checked - I know I would be.

busy - doesn't Aldi have good buys on fresh fruit and such? I've heard that, but never been there.

stressed - wow £250 for tyres! I just hate making those types of purchases - you know you have to, but ouch! Good idea at starting to put aside items for Christmas now. I'll have to think about doing that. Will need to make a list first, as I'm a big listmaker! LOL I need to start working on my knitting projects as well or I'll never finish them in time for Christmas!

Hope everyone has a good day. I best get started on breakfast for DS.

    Morning all,

Still a bit dark & dismal on the Lancashire coast today..... don't think it's made its mind up whether to have a good weather day or bad....

Had to get up early to call our local sorting office over a delivery "issue" yesterday.....now waiting until said delivery person arrives & is questioned before I will get a response..... probably best not to hold my breath!

Well, you'll all be pleased to read that I did my ironing last night :j so DF will think that I have at least done something while he's been away! He's home tonight until next week..... can't remember when we last spent more than 2 nights in the same bed - certainly not for the last 6 weeks or so, anyway!

Not much on today - need to wash-up before I go out to work (as usual ) then just potter round when I get in tonight.

Beads have arrived for me to sew "scattered" across the bodice of my (boring) black dress....... will keep you posted as to my progress! Also have 2, possibly 3, pairs of trousers to sew the hems up of..... could really do with a nice afternoon & a couple of good films on the telly!

Rugby season starts again this week - we have a 2-game friendly fixture on Friday night for the first & second teams..... will be good to see their legs again :p

DF is off to the footie on Saturday, courtesy of a ticket from his brother, so I am going to see the Klimt exhibition at Tate Liverpool, then La Tasca for feeding before train back home.... we swapped my Clubcard vouchers for la Tasca vouchers in March, and have one left that needs using by 31/8 so that will help.

Stressed Is that for 4 or 2? I'd want 5 + change from that for my car :rotfl:
ageandjo Good news about the scan :) Will keep fingers crossed for the other tests
candygirl Hope your dad is a bit perkier today
Silvercharming Is the patient improving any?....he must be getting bored & fed up by now, as must you ;)

Must go, my bath is run! Will be back later....
:grouphug: for all who would like one

    Morning all

Sitting here in the conservatory as we have got rid of the old three piece and the new one doesn't come until tomorrow. Hired a Rug Doctor last night and cleaned the lounge carpet - it was filthy

Now decided that we might as well decorate as well, so off to get brushes and paint after work.

Beef casserole in the slow cooker for dinner, so one less thing to do when I get in

Beth, there is a whole thread about what to buy at Aldi / Lidl and Netto. There are some really good things, you just have to try them.

    Catch you all later x

    Morning all

Another grey one - no doubt it will rain later!

I'm off out today to Webbs of Wychbold - meeting a friend. Don't intend to spend much/anything, but it's a nice place for a wander.

SOMO1 - I hate spending money on things like tyres! I always think what I could have bought instead for that amount, and have to grit my teeth!!

Floss2 - scattering beads sounds lovely on your dress - I have a top which had sequins on - a whole lot of them fell off the first time i wore it  and now I need to get round to stitching them back on.

Managed to pull a muscle just below my rib cage last night in bed turning over - boy! does it hurt! Didn't even know i had any muscles there!

Have a good day everyone - hugs to all in need.

JackieO, I forgot to say great news yesterday.
Off to work again soon, I sat down with a cuppa & some painkillers yesterday afternoon & promptly fell asleep, I didn't wake up til 5 & just in time to serve tea. I'm waiting til the new heads are settled in & then I'm going to have another bash at getting all the H&S issues sorted out with my job, they still haven't got proper extract fans in place & I have 3 machines pumping out chemicals into a smallish room, I'm also standing/walking all day on a concrete floor there should be rubberised matting down.
I babysat last night, DGs was as good as gold & DGD screamed on and off for a couple of hours, but this time it was because she has a rotten cough/cold, she was tired, but everytime she fell asleep she coughed & woke herself up, between tears she was pleased to see me and didn't freakout at the sight of me, lol.
Spare ribs & special fried rice for tea tonight, no chance of getting my washing dry as it's raining here, it's getting ready for the festival, sorry Stef!
    Have a good day.
    Hugs Hester

It is for 4 budget tyres lol!! DH did get the best deal he could find - we're using one of them company's that come to the house and do the tyres  I hate spending that money on the car, but then I don't drive ;)

  • Morning Guys!

Weather wet and windy here this morning again.

DD is having her party this afternoon. She has invited 7 of her good friends between 3pm-7pm:eek:      ....I am dreading it. DD said they will play on the Wii and watch a film or something. There all good girls but when girls get together it can be quite noisey. She is just having basic buffet food.

WM will go on soon and DW. The house is clean and tidy.

I have the nurse here shortly so had better go.

    Hugs to all.

    Morning All

I've not got a lot planned today. Probably a visit to the library and the market and if it stays dry we'll go and pick some blackberries.

Thinking of doing lobby for tea but not sure yet - I'll get some mince out of the freezer and do something with it anyway.

Ageand jo - pleased the scan was good news.

Had a bit of a lie-in today (6.45:rolleyes:) reading my book so I haven't done anything yet apart from make breakfast. DS has been looking through the Argos catalogue and given me a list of things that he'd like for his birthday!

    Have a good day all
