How to cancel Setanta Sports

After cancelling my direct debit just to make sure, I've since received 4 phone calls from them. I just managed to get to the 4th call and some snotty mackem lass said I needed to pay Februarys payment asap and asked if I could pay it right then. I refused and she asked why so I told her the tale.
At first she said I must have sent the email to the wrong address - even though it is in my outbox and didnt come back as unsent/unknown recipient.
Then that there records showed that I had written to them requesting cancellation but was told to email them - to which I said that I hadn't written, I had emailed like I was told to with all the details I had to include and asked her if she would like a copy of said email haha. That shut her up.
I now have to send this first email from November 2008 to their Head Orifice to prove it was sent (by recorded delivery methinks) and even though I haven't paid February's payment and am still connected, they still wouldn't cancel the subscription there and then like I told her she could do. If thats the case, I might just get to see Newcastle/Bolton on Sunday for nowtEnglish by birth. GEORDIE by the grace of God.0 -
march 2009, still having problems with cancelling subscriptions, met all the terms and conditons, 2 months minimum subscription and 30 days notice from next billing date 19th feb 09, have threatened me with debt collection agency for unpaid subscriptions for which there are none, account upto date, which setanta acknowledge, i have also noticed today 7th march they have cut me off, i am currently in my 30 days notice period which i have paid upto the 18th march, they say that is because i have cancelled direct debit at bank. it would appear nothing has changed with this company.

An extra thing to be careful with regarding Setanta now, is they are said to be in financial trouble, so try and get any cancellation sorted ASAP, as they may use other tricks to get you to carry on paying.0

Received a letter from Setanta on Saturday informing me that they have still not received Februarys £12.99 payment and will pass my "debt" on to a debt collecting agency if it isn't paid. I ripped it up.
They've now cancelled my subscription though but I think thats got more to do with me supposedly owing them money. Has anyone else who got the letter paid up or are you all standing your ground?English by birth. GEORDIE by the grace of God.0 -

Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this post...and the search engine that sent me here!
I've just cancelled my subscription, I just sent an email to the previously mentioned address (requests@setanta.com). Just say you want to cancel your sub. after next billing date, put full postal address and Sky viewing card number (as a credit card payer I don't seem to have had an account number). Less than 24 hours later, I received an email saying all cancelled...simple.

Don't be so sure they won't still take money out of your account. It's not over yet!0 -
well i rang to cancel and they said i had to email them to do this at requests@setanta.com - so ive just emailed them all my details, customer number, viewing card number, name and address and a note saying to cancel immediately from todays date.
when i got setanta i got 1 months free viewing and they also instantly debited my account with 1 months subscription.
question is, ive got a payment due to go out on 23rd of this month - in 12 days time.
they said over the phone that theyve still got to take this payment??? is this correct in your opinion please. if you think its correct i will let them take this last payment then i will cancel the direct debit at the bank.
please help, hope i dont have any problems as they have an awful reputation for making it difficult to cancel and continuing to take money.
to be honest im not expecting a reply from the email i sent them.0
