Received a phone call from setanta the other day and was told why was I cancelling and would I be interested in staying if they could offer me a better deal. I said if you offer me a good deal I may be interested in staying. The first offer was £9.99 a month, which I said no to as I already was offered this deal on the phone when I first tryed to cancel. He then offered me £10.99 for 6 months and then offered me a tempting deal of 'leaving it as it is' for £12.99 . Never got offered 3 months half price like some people on here have been.0

I sent an email and they replied accepting this cancellation. Just to make sure I cancelled my DD about a week later, and now I get sent text messages by them asking me to contact them on their 0871 number.....the sheer cheek!
I am refusing to contact them on that number, and they have a problem, they should be contacting me.....0 -
I cannot believe this company. Due to losing all my overtime and being put on reduced working hours, i have tried cancelling several times through email. Not one reply!!! So i telephoned their cancellations department and told them my situation and reason for cancelling. They offered me 12 months fixed price of £8.50 per month. I told him, even if he offered me it for half price i still could not afford it. He then went on and on saying that if i left and went back i'd have to pay a reconnection fee etc... I kept telling him i really appreciated their offer, but i'm struggling to pay my rent at the moment, so i'm cancelling a lot of things. I asked him to try and be a little sympathetic to my needs, but he just continued tryingto talk me into taking up their 'fantastic' offer. In the end he had me in tears!!! He then said i'd have to cancel via email, to which i repled i'd had no response. He kept repeating the same thing over and over like i was some sort of idiot. He then gave me a postal address in County Down to write to.
This company is an absolute disgrace.0 -
 i came home today to find two letters on my mat,
one from the credit card company, stating that after receving the copies of my emails to setanta, they would block any transactions from setanta and had re-imbursed me 2x £12.99 back onto my account!!!
the next letter was from setanta stating that after receiving information from halifax card services they would be re-crediting my credit card immediately!!
the name on the letter was hilary stewart, senior customer operations manager
victory!!!!
REMEMBER IF YOU TOOK OUT YOUR SUBSCRIPTION OUT ON A CREDIT CARD MAKE THE BANK CHASE THEM FOR YOU, AS THEY HAVE ALOT MORE POWER
PS hope to hear more success storys from others that SATANta are shafting!!0 -

Hopefully it's gone well for us cancelling setanta. Sent original email on 2nd Jan (before this months payment) giving notice. Heard nothing. Resent the email on 11th Jan (after this months payment) and had email on 17th, saying cancellation request successful and we will be terminated on 30th January. So fingers crossed that's it (and they don't take money next month, unfortunately DH put it on his card rather than DD, so we can't cancel it with out getting new card reissued)
They took money from us (£12.99) on 5th Feb. Emailed them again reminding them of the above. Think I'm gonna have to cancel the card:eek:2009 total raised £2373.60:jthe new garden beat me in 2010 just £1306.66:o2011 - 365 £ a day.
Life Changing October 2011 - DF & £10000 saved - twins came - no plans
2013 - twins now 14 mths old - lets get sorted!

Yes, the saga continues...
Having cancelled by phone and by email, I then cancelled my DD and started getting loads of phone calls and letters saying I still owed them money.
On consideration for the 30 days notice that I now recognise that I didn't fully give, I do think it took them about 14 days to turn off the access to their channels so I do think I probably owe then £6.50 for that time, so each time they call, I offer them it but noone at their end is authorised to accept any less than a full months payment ..
12 calls, 3 letters that I've responded to and counting ...0 -
