..if you have any trouble emailing them to cancel then I suggest you should contact this lady louise_burke@setanta.com she's one of the chief executives based in Luxembourg! Let me know how you get on!;)
btw the start of the email is louise_burke as it's been underlined0 -
Well, after saying I've had no trouble with Setanta I noticed today that they have taken £12.99 out of my account after offering me a 3 month deal at £6.50! I have emailed them and if I get no reply I will just cancel my direct debit, they are at fault so I think I am within my rights, please let me know otherwise!
Point to remember - if you want to join Setanta then pay by direct debit, that way YOU stay in control!0 -

I originally signed up to Setanta on a 2 months for £13 promo, rang up to give my 1 months notice then got offered 3 more months at £6.50.
Rang up yesterday to cancel and had a good chat to the rep and he claims the only retention offer they have is £9.99 for the next 12 months.
Has anyone else called up recently to cancel and been offered anything better than £9.99 for 12 month ?
Thanks0 -
I emailed to cancel on the 29th December, got no confirmation back so I phoned them and the person said that it would be cancelled and everything was recorded on their system. Well surprise surprise they took more money out last month. Just been on to them and spoke with someone who said he would put a refund request through, here's the joke part though - he could not give me his surname but he could give me a refererence number!
So I have just cancelled my Direct Debit to make sure no more money goes out. They say that football is a religion, if this is true I worship at the Exacta Stadium, Chester0 -
I too received that £9.99 for 12 months offer, I also received a £10.99 offer for 6 months. I sent a letter to cancel my account a few weeks ago, as well as emailing, and just received this offer in the post. The letter said, we are sorry you want to leave, we can offer you two options to stay on. I'm curious to know whether they expect you to ring up and decline the offer? Or will they cancel your account automatically? I'm debating whether to take up the £10 a month offer, but I will most likely cancel, and wondered what the rest of you have done, when you have not been interested in taking up their offer through post.

Remember to let Watchdog know your experiences, Setanta don't care about your story unless it's publicised and their reputation is affected. When Martin got involved a few months ago they buried the bad news with "good" news, which was reducing the 2 month cancellation period to 1 month, but we can clearly see this isn't actually happening.
Please let them know your stories too:

I'm about to cancel too, and reading back in this thread after a few months away from it, I'm horrified that nothing has improved.

Just sent my email. Cheers for info. I don't understand how you can ring Sky up to cancel the sport package and have it taken off straightaway but can't with Setanta.English by birth. GEORDIE by the grace of God.0
