Little bear did not have a good night.
But he is much brighter today, and was chuckling madly at the television earlier. I think he was making up his own jokes, because I have no idea what was so funny, but he was happy. From the sound of it he is currently tunnelling in his playpen.
I mentioned on last nights thread that he was woken by someone coming to 'borrow' nappies. I don't think he was that deeply asleep, because once upon a time when he was tiny and I was sleeping in the same room I could move around, knock things over, read books and all sorts without disturbing him.
Tonight I am using up grills to free up the freezer for more sensible, OS items, so it is lamb grills and mashed potatoes with some fresh rosemary from the garden. I am also going (little bear permitting) to soften some onions and peppers (peppers need using up) and stir in some tomato puree for the veg. Or use frozen peas.
To do today -- Find the living room floor
- IRONING
- Make some biscuits
Now little bear is quiet and happy in his playpen I am going to ask a neighbour to keep an ear on him and I will pop to the shops for the requisite potatoes. I always feel that leaving my child in a safe, warm playpen with lots of toys next to a baby monitor which is being closely listened to by a neighbour with six children and three grandchildren and brilliant with all of them is so neglectful. Little bear loves the neighbour and trusts them so should anything happen in the maximum of ten minutes I am out it will be fine. I keep trying to put it in perspective, but five minutes away from the house with someone else listening to the monitor at the moment is a huge sanity saver and a massive guilt trip.
I need to buck up.
The book swap sounds a really good idea, but I have to say that at the moment I am only managing to read a few pages at a time, then the next time I want to read I either can't remember how the story started so I have to start the book again or I can't remember where I left the book so I have to start another book. I think that is another item on the list of 'things to do when little bear is a bit older'.

Morning peeps
This is our last day without water (inside) so hopefully things will be back to normal tomorrow, i hate having no water but the maintainance must be done i suppose
Outside is a different story as it is absolutely lashing it down again, i`m hoping for a break so that i can walk the houndies before i go to w*rk but at the moment it`s not looking like there will be one, i relented yesterday and took them out before DH got home as the young houndie was practically bouncing off the walls lol, she is so funny:D
I try not do take them out until it stops as the oldie gets a bit off when he has had a soaking but it wasn`t too bad. The microfibre doggie towels that i found in the pound shop are great! quick and easy to towel the houndies down as they are much more absorbant and they dry really quickly too, i was going to cut them up as one would easily make 6 dusters but i think i`ll leave them as they are, this will mean less washing as towels are so much bulkier.
Dinner tonight will be beef stew and i have defrosted some spicy carrot & onion soup for lunch, given the weather i`m looking forward to that more than usual. There is a ham hock defrosting in the kitchen and some rump steak that i found in the freezer that we can have tomorrow, i haven`t really decided what to do with the hock though but i will save the stock for soup.
I really need to get my act together with the GC as i`ve not posted on there since i started it this month, i have an enormous envelope stuffed with reciepts so i need to sit down and work everything out, i need to do this soon so that i know what we can spend this weekend and i also need to cut some more corners as eventually the price of the remoska has to come out of the grocery budget as there`s nowhere else to pinch it from
Next door have a joinery van parked on their drive and i can hear lots of tapping, i think i`ll be popping round to ask if they can recommend the person when they`ve had the work done as we desperately need a joiner, quite novel too as the name on the van is "Sues Joinery" so i hope that this is someone that we can use. Our last joiner did marvellous work but let us down badly not turning up and he seemed to have a bit of a drinking problem:rolleyes:
The last straw was when he failed to turn up the day before the plasterer and he left us in a right state as the woodwork had to be done before the plasterer could start, i was hopping mad.
I think that i`ve rambled enough now;) so i`ll go and stare at the rain, have a good day everyone.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon

Betheebee - I am also very much in awe of you. I wouldn't know where to start with any of the things you have mentioned except the curtains, and that is a little hit and miss. I am very impressed.Ankh Morpork Sunshine Sanctuary for Sick Dragons - don't let my flame go out!0 -
