O/S Daily Tuesday 19th August

Morning All

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 19th August 2008.. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

I got up with my DH this morning which I don't normally do if he's got an early start so I've been sat here catching up on some threads.

Not a lot planned today and it looks like it'll probably rain for most of the day again so I'll have to think of something to keep the kids busy. They are not having paint out again after last week's fiasco!

The bread pudding went down very well at DH's work. He took 3 pieces for himself yesterday morning which he ended up sharing and then came home while I was out to get the rest because other people wanted some as well. His mates have now said I've got to make some more!

If we get a break in the rain I'm hoping to go and get some more blackberries but at the moment it doesn't seem likely.

Hope everyone has a good day

Hugs to all

  • Morning juliejim and all who follow

Raining again  Still I expect it will mean a dry winter

Just a quick post, as I've still got to iron my trousers and make my sandwich for work.

Tea tonight will be beef enchiladas, followed by HM white and dark chocolate brownies.

Need to stick a load in the WM - hopefully DH will see it needs drying in the TD ;)

Have a great day everyone (((((hugs)))))
Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )
Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)

    Morning everyone,

Haven't been on the computer much the last week. Been a bit busy and time just flies. Hope everyone is well & congratulations to any birthday's etc I've missed. I've got DGS tomorrow & Thursday night this week and he's off with his Mum for a few days away. Be back Tuesday. Her sister is getting married. Ninny plans on doing some more sewing as I stocked up on more material. Thanks for that link Dazi on the handbag organiser. Great way to use up leftovers & re-cycle as gifts. :D

YS has put a offer in for a house here on the island and it was accepted today. :T He got a bargain and it has water views. A bit of TLC needed which YS is hopeless at but DH is good at. He needs to get finance approved first but fingers crossed.
We have also booked ourselves on a holiday. ;) It's not until Feb for 14 nights. P & O are having a 50% sale atm so we are going to NZ and taking DGS with us. Can't believe the savings. I will finally be able to say I've been there now. :D I pay the deposit this week and the remainder in Nov which is good.

We went on a 9 day cruise about 5 years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. Put on nearly a stone  so I'll try and not be as piggy this time. Well I suppose I better go and water the veggies. A bit more rain over here would be nice so N9eav if you please could you share? ;)

Snowy Hope the interview went well.
    JackieO Thats fab news.

Enjoy your day. <hugs> to those sick or sick kiddies. Byeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

Good luck with that today - I hope you have fun :D

Hugs to all that want or need them and have a great Tuesday all

    Morning :)

Up at 5am to make a cuppa and to see DH off to work and have now crawled back to bed with the laptop. How lazy is that? Well, the dogs are asleep in their baskets, the kids are all still asleep, so I thought that I would grab a very rare lie in :D

Aussielass, sorry if this is a silly question, but what is a YS? I've not come across that before. The holiday sounds really good, BTW.

Not at all organised for today, no idea what dinner is going to be - think there may be some batch cooked veggie chilli in the freezer, if so then it will be that along with rice and salad. Wnat to spend a bit of time planning Christmas stuff so that it doesn't sneak up on me in December like it always seems to!

Have a good day everyone :)

    Morning all,

Hope to finish my curtains (again) today, everytime I make a start I loose the feeling in my hands, it's delicate tasks that affect them the most I laid DD2's patio no probs, mixing cement no probs, decorating no probs, sewing a nightmare.
I am making more spicy carrot & tom soup but will use some overnight soaked split peas instead of red lentils so will make it up as I go along.
GENA, re the baked garlic, I put the unpealed cloves on a baking tray cook at 180c for 20mns, squeeze out the garlic, mash and put in air tight jar and pour over extra virgin oil and store in the fridge, it keeps for ages.

I'm cooking lamb shanks for dinner, shanks used to be a cheap but they're a treat now. Will put in SC for about 4hrs. Serve with cauli mash and roast parsnips. YS melon and strawbs for pud. I picked up 12 brandy snap baskets for 24p as they were broken so will sprinkle some on top.

DH has nearly finished the utility room, it's taken longer that planned because the walls are built of stone and nothing is flat or straight.

Right off for a coffee, hope it's a good day for all.

PS. OLDMCDONALD, Aussie's YS is young son whereas my YS is yellow sticker that's put on rediced food in the S/market.

    Good morning,

Couldn't get on last night.....no internet, no TV, rang Sir Richard & the message listed a load of postcode areas (one of which was mine ) that were "experiencing difficulties and may have interrupted service".....hmmmm.....more like constantly interrupted! So, as a result I missed the Hairy Bakers AND I couldn't record the Ian Rankin's Edinburgh programme that I mentioned the other day

    Anyway, it's working now :)

Not much going on today......couldn't iron last night as no TV to iron to  so have that to do tonight. Can't go blackberrying tonight as it hasn't stopped raining since about 4pm yesterday & they're in a very soggy place.....Guess I'll go into work then.... Although that shouldn't be too onerous at the moment - short on bosses due to retirement & holidays, and one colleague down due to sickness. Hey ho.

See you later, :grouphug: to all who would like one.

    Floss x

Young son!!! Of course!!! I had gone through every Y word I could think of and placed it next to son but didn't come up with that one! As for yellow stickered - would never of worked that one out! :o

Thanks, betheebee (great username, BTW, is it beth the bee, be the bee? It looks nice (if that makes sense and doesn't make me sound a bit loopy!) :))
