As there are two current threads on spiders I've merged both of them together.

I have them hoike dover the wall into next doors if hubby is home if not.. it is the vacuum or shoe treatment I'm afraid.. works though.. the first year we were in here we had oodles of the nasty things.. this is the third winter here and there are hardly any now.

I would like a cat that eats them though.. one of mine couldn't catch a sleeping cold and the other is only interested in meat!

do these conkers have some sort of sell-by date? i.e. do they last for years and years? the reason why i ask is because i've found some 'mature 4 years old' conkers on ebay :) so maybe they could deter spiders AND make you money!
  • Hi just moved into an old house that has been renovated. Looks like we have disturbed all the creepy crawlies and now they are fighting back !!!! Has anyone used one of the sonic power insect replelants ?? It is mostly wood lice and spiders ( which I am terrified by ) Please help and trembling old wreck.

  • Hi Welshgranny, we bought a sonic mouse & rat repellent, we didn't think it was working and at the time we had a pet rat, we plugged it in next to his cage and he didn't even wake up, we changed it incase it was faulty but same thing happened so we got a refund. Perhaps the rats and mice in our area are all deaf!!! but we thought it a waste of money.

    Hi

I bought one as i was having problems with mice. By the time it had arrived the mice had gone so i didn't plug it in straight away. The other night i heard scratching in the attic so i plugged it in and the noise stopped almost instantly. They're supposed to take a month to work but i've not heard anything since. As for creepy crawlies i haven't noticed any in the house the last few days apart from mozzies.
  • Thanks Pinknfluffy. I thought I would ask before buying and the moment a whack with a shoe is 1 up on the sonic control

    Hi welshgranny,

We have an earlier thread on getting rid of spiders and other creepy crawlies that might help so I'll add your thread to it.

It may also be worth having a look at this current thread on the In My Home board: Sonic Spider Repellent

Hope you manage to sort it out.

  • My husband came home from work last Friday and told me this gem : to keep spiders out of a room, place a chestnut in each corner. Seems far fetched but until I find some conkers, I really can't say!!!

  • Sonic pest controllers will work to start with but as time goes on the pests just get used to it and the noise that it makes. Better stick to the tried and tested older methods which are cheaper too!
