    Morning everyone :)

The rain has stopped here and the sun is threatening to break through the clouds, so I can hopefully get some washing out and also tidy up the garden. Also need to do some more baking, hoover the whole house, clean the kitchen floor, tackle the ironing and maybe also wash the car if the rain does stay off. With a bit of luck, I can drag OH away from his PS3 and get him to help out.

Smoky, I’m fairly new to the thread so don’t know your whole story, but it sounds like your having a tough time at the mo. Hope it all works out OK for you, hon.

Betheebee how do you make your spicy carrot and tomato soup? It sounds delish (and if my tomatoes ever ripen I’ll be needing ideas of what to do with them:rolleyes:)

    Good Morning All

    (((Smokey)))

Squiggly - hope you get it sorted, the sound of a dog barking constantly is like torture, luckily my one doesnt seem to know how to bark.

Had a lie in this morning as had a late night at the wedding, the weather was lovely and had a really nice day. It was excellent catching up with extended members of the family.

Woken up to horrible weather, hasnt stopped raining yet. Not a very exciting day planned - housework, paperwork and ironing. OH has some of our friends coming over for the Chelsea game later so will be able to get on. I can hear the telly in my office so will be able to keep up.

Forgot to get meat out of the freezer so will pop along to a farm shop and hope they have got some pork as that is what I really fancy. Dont know whether I will try it in the Remoska or do it the normal way - we really like crispy crackling.

    Have a lovely Sunday.

    OLYMPIC GUINEA PIGS :rotfl:

Mr troo is back to work today, miss troo is at a friend's house and master troo is in bed but is going out as soon as he gets up. So a peaceful day for me. If someone else is in the house, I seem to take ages to get anything done, but I can whizz through the housework when I'm on my own  So I'll be done by 11am :T

I need to smoosh some tomatoes for the freezer, but the freezers are full. I don't know what to do with them all, I've given loads away and there's only so many you can eat

I've dug out my pilates and yoga DVDs. This was supposed to be 'the year of me' (I won't explain, it'll take too long, I went on about it a few months ago and I think I bored everyone to death lol) but it hasn't quite worked out how I planned so I'm re-starting it.

    Morning all!

I've been up at 6am every day since the Olympics started, and I'm now tired and grumpy. :D :j

I have no fabric conditioner or vinegar, and can't go to the shops because I might miss some sport. Is there anything else I can use? I've tried searching but can't find what I need. I'd start a new thread but I don't want to upset pink by making her merge me. :rotfl:

    Hi Bigbird,
Here's the recipe I made up as I went along, DH loved it so much he had a bowl after his lunch.

4oz red lentils (thats's all I had in the cupboard)
2 onions (cooked in micro until soft)
1 tin tomatoes ( didn't have any fresh ones, lucky you can use fresh)
    8 carrots sliced
4 cloves crushed garlic (sounds a lot but it's not)
    S&P
    1 tsp ground corriander
    1 tsp dried basil
2 veg stock cubes in 1.5 pts of water.
a few dashes of Worcerter sauce (I used 1 tbs to give it a kick)
    4 drops of Tabasco
    2 tsps tomato puree.
Put all of the above in a pan, bring to boil then simmer until soft. Blend in a liquidizer and enjoy. You can make it spicier by adding more Tabasco but found the amount I used just right to make it spicy but not to hot.

MIOLIERE, DB1 has his next blood count test next month, they are monitoring him every 6 weeks, he is coping with Prostate Cancer quite well.
DB2 is a mess, he is on meds for severe depression and drinking heavily, not a good mix. Consultants want to start lazer treatment on 15 of the Melanomas, he has over 3 dozen in total and they are spreading.
Thank you so much for asking after them.
PS. I try to slow down but I always feel the need to keep busy, much to DH's exasperation.

Morning Chums, <<hugs to Smokey>> it's rotten when you feel as though everything is getting on top of you. I do hope you can sort things out .It is so difficult when you are on your own and it's the small daft things that get to you. I remember after my husnand died I got so angry as I had to change a light bulb, not a hard task you would think but I am only a short person and he was almost 6ft and he could stand on a chair and do it easily whilst I have a wonky hip and chair standing isn't a good idea.My ceilings are 9ft 6" so you can see my problem .I had to wait until my youngest DD came to get a light bulb in, I was so cross as it seemed such a daft thing that I couldn't do. His nickname at home was 'Menderman' as he could fix almost anything. I have had to learn to DIY myself all the little jobs that I just took for granted that he would do.
Still things do get better as time goes on . I think of berevement as breaking a leg You may always limp a bit at times, but you will learn to walk again. Chin up love you are doing really well. Everyday is a hurdle at the moment, but you will get through it . Try not to be so hard on yourself ,one day at a time remember.

Well I am so cross with the weather I looked on the BBC website last night, and it said that today it would be sunny so I did two washloads from my holiday, and its sitting on the draining board at the moment as the rain is falling .Grr blooming weather forecasts.
Did have one nice surpise last night though, my nephew who lives in Lancashire phoned and told me that my cousin Aileen who lives in Australia is due to arrive next month for a fortnight, so I am going up to Tottington to meet her .She must be a tough cookie as she is 88 and is flying on her own for the first time to see Britain.
Nephew Hughie is the vicar in Tottington and is arranging a nice welcome for her.
Aileen and I have never met, as her Dad was my late Mums brother, and he went to Australia in 1912 !! So I am off to Manchester in September for a couple of days.
I hope it doesn't rain too much :)Seriously I am really looking forward to meeting my cousin at long last.
This morning I am going food shopping, I bet its even gone up from a week ago before my holiday. Still I am only buying the essentials this week as I still have quite a bit in the freezer to be getting on with. last night I cobbled together a jacket potato and a portion of mince from the freezer for my dinner and it was very nice .My DD brought me some grape jelly back from the U.S. and I shall have some on toast for breakfast this morning.
I also had some slices of bread in the freezer.
Well I hope everyone has a lovely day despite the rain .I am off to dinner at youngest DDs this afternoon as usual. The boys have taken to cards whilst on holiday, so I shall be reffereeing them.
take care all <<hugs to those who need them >> and a big :) to the rest of you.

    Mornin

Been up for ages reading through the last of yesterdays thread and catching up on others. WM on and nearly finished, it was lovely and sunny when I put it in but now its YUK!!! ah well it can still go out, under the back cover.

Nothing much planned for today, one of those "take it as it comes days" for a change. OH is still in bed, he seems to sleep more these days, he went to the Drs 2 wks ago, and his BP was up so Dr changed his tabs, suppose it could be to do with that, seems ok though hasn`t complained about anything ;)

Kathy the hot buttered plums sound delish,

smokybabe I feel for you so much, you are doing so well to cope with everything, the garden is a must for all of you, the LO`s for playing and you for relaxing and just enjoying. (((hugs)))to you all:A

Betheebee BigBird beat me to it, carrot and tomato sounds lovely I would love to know how you make it.I hope your hands are a bit easier now :D

Good for you troo it does`nt matter when you start really, its still the same year :j ;)

Sounds like OH is on his way down, I`ll go do him a cuppa.
    Back later

I haven't read yesterday's thread, but it sounds like a lot of people need a hug and especially Betheebee. Your hands sound so painful yet you do so much more than me :o

I am nodding as I sit. Little bear has been having nightmares so last night was not restful, and I have been up since 5am. I daren't go back to bed, but I really, really want to. I am posting almost because I hope it will keep me awake.

I am quite proud of myself. Last night both myself and my darling husband were absolutely exhausted, but instead of getting a takeaway I actually made some very basic pasta cooked with sweetcorn and peas and with a jar of stir fry sauce stirred through with the turkey steaks I had bought (which were really inexpensive and unfortunately their taste reflected it ) There is hope for me yet.

I am abandoning the idea of a home made oil burner. Sigh. When I mentioned to my darling husband that we could do with an oil burner he complained (jokingly!) that every time something happened it was an excuse for me to buy something. So I resolved to make my own oil burner. I bought some very posh Sheba cat food in a little domed foil tin that would hold the oil and water and decided that the little tins of beans are too small to hold the candle and that I needed to wait until I had used a taller tin. I explain this to my darling husband who looks extremely doubtful. 'You will make it look nice, won't you?' he says. Now, I have already spent 52p on ridiculously priced cat food for the evil cat (she didn't appreciated it - I don't think it even touched the sides of her throat as it went down at speed) and I can see getting small pots of enamel paint looming up and then getting the right sort of tools instead of a nail just to pierce a few holes. I shall just put a few drops of oil in a teacup of hot water.

Yesterday I went to buy yarn for the baby clothes I have been asked to make. :o The child is not due for at least six months, but then there is nothing like being prepared and I went into a wool shop in town. I am always surprised that the shop is still trading - I think Mrs Noah used to get her wool from there and I don't think that they have moved much with the times. I always come out baffled. As usual, I am resolved to stick to internet purchases after the latest encounter. So now I have a pattern and some wool that I would politely call 'teddy bear coloured' and I suppose I had better get on with the tank tops first.

I'm supposed to be baking today - I just hope I can stay awake long enough! I shall try and keep awake by some knitting.

    Morning all
Hugs to Smokeybabe, one day at a time, hun, it will get better.
Was expecting a visitor yesterday, but she got herself in a bit of a state so we went to her instead, I think she felt better by the time we left. BIL was meant to be away last night, but he had problems with his ex, screaming row & then an earbending hour for me as I tried to sort them out & calm things down, my life is all joy!!
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
