    Hi MrsP

We had a bit more snow yesterday afternoon but it has rained solidly all day today so my ski jacket got lovely and wet and cold:rolleyes: I think we will have snow tonight because it is getting jolly cold. I am a brummie born but not necessarily bred as I moved to Bromsgrove when I was 3 so I have a strange rather posh accent:rotfl:

Did my mystery shop today but found out that I wasnt supposed to do it but they sent me a form and told me to submit it anyway so I can get paid:j I am looking forward to Friday when I shall go back to Selfridges for a free makeover and lesson with the artistic director (hopefully he will be able to tell me how to put makeup on when I only have one eye to see out of).

Strumps - start looking for jobs, filling in applications and going to interviews will keep your hand in - you don't have to accept the job if its offered. Hope all is well with OH, the ice rink, the diet and the NSDs:D

    Hi Everybody,

I think the money crisis at work has been sorted as the Directors have agreed to inject a sizeable amount of cash to secure the business for the foreseeable future. This is great news!!!

I, on the other hand, am so skint it is untrue. I now SERIOUSLY need to curb my spending. Managed to avoid paying any interest to Halifax though so now I might transfer to Alliance & Leicester and bag the £100 they are offering!!!!

Has the snow gone with you all?

    Hi Strumps

Good news on the work front.

You are a naughty boy living beyond your means:naughty: but we will soon have you back on the straight and narrow. So start with your shopping lists, spending diary, NSDs and £10 challenge, oh and your £2 coin box too.

Take a look at First Direct - they give you £100 for joining and £100 for leaving (not that you will want to leave them as they are fab).

We had a bit more snow yesterday but it is now thawing fast:j Hopefully I will be able to get the car out - it has been too icy so far and I have taken to using a walking pole when I am out to stop me going base over apex:rolleyes:

Oh and my ex sent me a text message the other day which was quite sweet so we shall wait and see - how considerate of him to say that he didnt want to mess up my life:D Still, I shall meet him to chat about old times as I think we need to clear the air somewhat.

Talk about being jammy - I met my solicitor the other day and negotiated her fee down from £195 per hour to £95 per hour:j so she is drawing up my contracts. I chatted to a luxury marquee company yesterday and they are allowing me to put out some of my business cards when they have an open weekend at the end of March.

Am still waiting for the tv company - but I bet I won't be selected, I am not photogenic, don't have big boobs nor do I have blonde hair:rotfl: Still, if not selected it will the their loss:j

    Hi Strumpet and Horace,

Strumpet - so glad about your job. That is great news. I have definitely strayed from the MSE path the last few weeks. I am so cross with myself. I just spent 10 mins ranting about it on my diary pressed a button and the whole lot disappeared:mad: I couldn't face typing it all again and strangely enough felt a lot better after my rant, so have just put the positive things I am going to do to get back in control. At least I have realised that I was (excuse the pun Horace) skating on thin ice:rolleyes:

Horace - you will have to keep us posted on how things go with the ex:D

Strumpet - how are you getting on with OH? Have you both settled down to being with each other all the time? It does take a bit of getting used to doesn't it?

Ex - well there's a story:o - we exchanged text messages (me - formal, he funny and a bit close to the bone), then he appeared on my doorstep yesterday morning:eek: He came for a mug of tea and a chat, he patted my knee:eek: gave me a hug:D and then a peck on the lips:eek: he kept apologising for dumping me 27 years' ago and how he was sorry to have broken my heart so I said "sh*t happens" - he claims to remember the day he asked me out, everything we did and when we split up. He is supposed to be visiting again in 2 weeks:D I don't know how I feel about it to be honest with you.

I have been naughty this week and haven't been very MSE at all - I did a couple of mystery shops and bought some stuff then I went back to Selfridges today as the artistic director of Bobbi Browns was there and he gave me a makeup lesson - so muggins goes and buys more makeup and two extra brushes to go in the kit she bought earlier in the week:eek: Now if I clean them properly they should last me a lifetime - so maybe that is MSE:confused: As I spent over £50 I trotted up to the concierge desk clutching my receipt, a voucher I had printed off the Amex site and my Amex card and claimed my £10 gift card (it might be used to buy the cleaner:rolleyes: ), oh and I managed to flash my Amex card to get a free sample of J'Adore by Dior perfume:j The artistic director had a bit of a go at me by saying "madam, must exfoliate":rotfl: Still he made me laugh and made me feel like a million dollars.

Now Strumps, sorry for hijacking your thread. What do you have planned for OH for Valentines? Is he taking you out?

Hello Horace - I'm a sucker for make-up too! When the Avon books drops through the door its far better if I don't open it at all!!

My Valentines evening was spent with DH, DS and my Dad:eek: However, it was an MSE one as Dad paid.:j Dad has also given me some money which means I will make an overpayment on my CCs which will help my total. I'm afraid I went a bit mad though a bought a Radley bag (I am a real sucker for those as well):D It certainly was not an MSE purchase.

I'm back on the MSE wagon now and aim to stay on:j

    How's it going Strumps???

My OH was very romantic, he bought me 10 redroses from an illegal immigrant on the way out of London cost a fiver. He spent £17.50 on 5 Lambeth Visitor Parking permits (in other words come and visit me for a change:rolleyes: ), and dinner last night was the chip shop - him large haddock and chicken & mushroom pie, me cone portion of chips and a cheese n onion fry:D My present to OH, 1 bottle of screenwash, 2 ties - 1 from Next and the other a pure silk one cost in total £2 from the charity shop. He will be getting the Paul Smith one for his birthday or I may keep it myself as it goes with my new suit:rotfl:

So Strumps what did OH get you for Valentine's
  • Hi girls!

Well you've all been busy gossipping on my thread whilst I have been away! I love it really!

Horace - you should watch out for ex - he might be trying to weevil his way back in and may end up costing you. Please be careful!

Well I think we all need slapped legs on the MSE front. Let's make a pact here and now to draw a line under everything since Christmas and turn over a new leaf. Save Save Save!!

OH and I are going out for a meal this evening for Valentine's Day. We were going to go to St Albans for the weekend as I was ringing peals at the Abbey. We were going to stay with friends but they cancelled due to unforseens and as I had already committed myself to the peals, I still had to go (and stay in B & B - more expense). OH said he'd rather stay at home as he is not a ringer and he would be bored without the friends around. A joint decision and no stress about it. I took my Valentine's card with me and opened it on the day!!!

OH and I are getting on great - I knew we would. Our moving in otgether has been 7 years in the planning so we were more than sure of what we were getting into!!! I love having him around.

We are clubbing together for a Valentine's present and buying a weights bench so we can still work out if we can't be bothered to travel to the gym.
    Sexy or what!!!

It is OH's birthday on Wednesday, and he has a pole dancing class!!! So I won't see him then either! He doesn't know it yet but he's getting a cake with candles on it!!! LOL

So we're going out tonight for a Valentine / birthday meal. Should be fun! To be honest, we get more out of a night in with a bottle of vino. We just seem to be so tired at the moment. I HATE February. Gloomy, cold, wet nasty month!!!

At least work is back on a more even keel. Less to worry about there!

My friend Gary has finally sorted out a computer link so I can do his accounts on his computer, without leaving my dining room! This is great as I can now do what needs doing and start to get paid for it. Could bring in another £150 per month which will help to pay off some debts.

Managed to avoid paying any charges on the Halifax account as switched my OD to Lloyds. Halifax paid £38 cashback into my account. At a very basic reckoning I think I have a £900 deficit in my accounts, so using Gary's money, I should have this cleared in 6 months! That's my target anyway. The Lloyds OD runs out onn 17th July so aim to be solvent again by then!

What a long message - off for a lie down!!!

  • Hi Strumpet,

My legs are well and truely slapped:D

I hate February too and agree with you I prefer the fire and vino (plus a good murder mystery on the TV - DH calls me "square eyes"):j

that's good news about the extra work and you have a plan to pay off your OD. Try not to let the extra money go on "nothings". Most of my extra Ebay money this month went on bills:eek: How I would have managed without it I don't know:eek: I have now laid out a plan of action beginning next month so I shouldn't get into a pickle again.
