I'm here, I'm here!!!
Sorry about not being on - I've been having appraisals at work and they are SO time consuming!!!
Anyway I'm here now!
Mrs P: We had a dehumidifier in our house when I was a student because it was a bit damp and people kept drying their washing in their rooms.
One day I got home and the dehumidifier was on and ALL the windows were open!! What were they trying to do? Dehumidify the planet????
We had cumulo-nimbus clouds gathering at the top of the stairs and hailstorms in the hall!
OK - over-exaggeration, but you get the point!
I hate to think how much it was costing!
Speaking of money, I paid £3,759.69 off my Halifax Credit Card today. This is the last stage of my credit card stooze that I have been doing since Sept 2007. I got a deal of 15 months interest free on purchases and a credit limit of £3,900 so I just put everyday purchases on the card and then paid the money our of my current account into my ISA. Now that the interest free period is over, I have paid the money back out of my ISA and so have avoided any interest on the CC debt. Hopefully, at the end of the tax year, I will get a big amount of interest on the ISA, although the rate has slumped recently of course! It could be as much as £150 (including the £30 I got in April 2008!)
Also, the interest rate on the Halifax CC has risen to only 14.9% so this is the cheapest card I have now!
OH has set up Standing Order to pay me his household contribution, AND Eon have sent me a letter reducing my Fuel Direct Debit by £12 to £77/month!
Strumps is having a good January!
Also, I have put 3lbs back on! GRRR!!!! However, I am hitting the gym twice a week and OH has pointed out that muscle weighs more than fat so it's quite likely that I am putting on weight but still getting fitter. Also, more muscle increases your metabolic rate so you burn fat quicker. Strumps is going to be hot stuff by the time his holiday comes round in the summer!NIL ILLEGITIMUS CARBORUNDUM!Nov Grocery Challenge: £0.00 / £150.00

stoozing? I'm so impressed Strumpet. :rotfl:
I wish I was that organised.0 -
Glad to have you back Strumps - your harem has missed you:rotfl:
Wow Strumps - well done on paying that money off. I stoozed once but paid the whole thing off so nearly all my credit cards have balances of zero - my Amex one has a bit on it but its manageable plus I will get some money back this month (they put it towards the bill so I never get it in my sticky mitts:rolleyes: ).
Hot stuff eh? Are you going to send us a photo??;)
Not to worry about putting weight on - I lost 12lbs in Spain and since I came back have managed to put on 4lbs:mad: Mind you, I didnt eat much when I was in Spain and I walked everywhere, I didnt use the bus for 3 days - in fact I didnt use the bus much at all thinking about it:rolleyes:
My claim for a new suitcase has gone into Monarch so I am hoping they will send me £51.40 and maybe a little compo for ruining my hols. Also, I hope to hear from weddingtv next week - fingers crossed my application is successful and they will pay me £200 a day for 12 days' work:cool:
I won't be around much next week because I am off to the Spring Fair - it is so huge, I shall be spending a few days' there - I love trade fairs because you don't have to pay to get in:D Oh, I am also going to see my solicitor and have negotiated not only a free consultation but a whopping discount for preparing my contracts - she will be paid £50 per hour as opposed to £195:cool: I am so good at negotiation plus I can sell ideas and sand to arabs and ice cream to eskimos.
Have a fab day and hope your appraisal went OK?:D0 -
Strumpet - you are organised with your stoozing. I know I just would not have the discipline to do that. I cannot wait for the day when I can say I am credit card debt free - at the moment its looking like a long way off - all my own fault of course:mad:
It sounds like you are going to look absolutely fab - where are you going for your hols (I live in "sunny" Cornwall):j
Horace - what is wedding tv? Sounds interesting.Debt free and Keeping on Track0 -
Hi Strumpet - hope you had a good weekend and that your're not snowed in today.:DDebt free and Keeping on Track0

I was snowed in but fotunately, mine was the first car to attempt to get off the car park at the back of the house so I got to drive over snow which had not been compacted and hence it was not too difficult to maintain grip. Whether I'll get home again is another issue!!!
