Hi Strumpet - I can hardly believe it myself. I did have my hair cut on Saturday:D I was just eating normally again - I ate and drank for England over christmas. This week will be the telling week. I have to be ultra good in order to keep that weight loss and also maybe lose a little bit more.
Glad you are getting your finances organised. I've gone a bit haywire this weekend. Bought a new hoover yesterday -- £85 reduced. There were other less powerful models in the shop and they were dearer! I can't understand it at the moment, there are some crazy bargains out there if you look. However, as we don't have to pay council tax for the next two months:j I decided to use that money for the new hoover. The old one was 7 years old and you had to get down on the floor with it and coax it to suck anything up:rotfl: I was going to use the council tax payment to overpay on my credit card, but hey, I can do that in March.:D

Bargain!
Got loads of stuff for £63.13 altogether. I think we can manage for the week on what I bought.
Cheated and went to Morrisons though - couldn't be bothered to drive to Burnley to visit Tesco's.
Morrisons is better for fish anyway. I bought 2 trout and without me having to say anything, the chappie offered to clean and top & tail them. Champion service!NIL ILLEGITIMUS CARBORUNDUM!Nov Grocery Challenge: £0.00 / £150.00

Brilliant!!
Our nearest supermarket is 12 miles away and its Tescos so not much choice for use really.
Why is it always one step forwards and two steps back with money? I'm struggling a bit at the moment as have to find £125 per month (just did January), but need Feb. and March to pay for DS' trip to Italy. I am using the family allowance but that's only £18.80 per week so leaves quite a shortfall:mad: On top of that the crickets subs are due £20 on Monday and there is a trip to London in May costing £45.
I think my main problem is that I account for absolutely every penny and am trying to overpay on the CCs. Perhaps I need to have a kind of emergency fund each month - even if only £30 so I can dip into if necessary. At the moment I budget for the month ahead and then when unexpected things crop up I can't cope. I've really just answered my own question haven't I?
Strumpet you make me laugh dipping into your freezer fund - but really that's what I do all the time. I was so pleased after Christmas, but at the moment its such a struggle and we're still in January. I know I'm better off than most people on here, my struggle is to over-pay my cc's not to live.Debt free and Keeping on Track0 -
Hello Strumpet - how is your week going? How is the diet and fitness coming along?Debt free and Keeping on Track0

I am back from my hols - slightly skinter than when I went:rolleyes: I was forced to buy a new suitcase so now have one that is baby pink:eek: but at least no-one else is fool enough to have one that colour so at least I can spot it on the baggage conveyor. A claim is being made to the airline because dammed if I will lose money over it.
Am thinner - as I walked everywhere miles and miles everyday up and down hills (why does Alicante have to be built on a bloomin' big hill?). Ate reasonably well, one place made these huge hamburgers and I mean huge - think of dinner plates and you will get the idea:eek: Needless to say I tried to be good and have chicken. Shopped in Lidl and got pizzas to cook in new oven (oven kept tripping out the electric so we had to use the grill instead:rolleyes: ) and we bought bags of oranges and had freshly squeezed juice everyday even making some to take out with us to save buying drinks when we were out. Everyone is feeling the pinch and the sales were on big style over there - the only thing that I recieved was a lovely wool scarf that was half price that OH bought me, although he did buy me some silly slippers in one of the Chinese bargain shops and they must only have cost a euro or two at most, he also bought me some trainers but they are a tad big but if I wear hiking socks with them they are not too bad.
I managed a few NSDs too which is fab. So of the 50 euros that I took with me I have about 15 left (some were given to OH so that he could pay for the bus tickets from to and from the airport and when he had run out of change). I bought him some drinks too - their drinks are better value because their measures are non-existent:j
OH can shop for England and today, I have been food shopping and he was still lolling about in his undies but he did put together my pot stand, he is out in Birmingham at the mo hitting the shops but I couldn't be bothered to go out again, I don't think that I could stand it because all he does is nitpick and I am not in the mood.
As for PVC pants Strumps - you need to get yourself to the Erotica fair they sell all sorts there and its a real eye opener. Tell your OH that PVC pants don't help you grip onto the pole when poledancing either - bare flesh is the thing for that (I know because I have done it and got the certificate from Spearmint Rhino:eek: ):rotfl: Maybe your OH was looking for a new apron or some rubber gloves?
Good news on the bank front - tell the Halifax to get knotted.0 -
Hello Horace - nice to see you back. Glad you had a good time. Well done on all the walking and watching what you were eating.
Weather is terrible tonight - the BIG storm promised has hit wind at 80mph. DH and I have spent the last 30 mins out in the darkness (live in the country and no lights), taking out panels from the greenhouse - we have lost one plastic panel and one glass panel from the roof has crashed. We decided to take all the panels out - plastic on the side and glass on the top and just leave the frame. All the panels and glass are now in the kitcehn. Hopefully the frame will still be standing in the morning. Its blowing a hoolie out there.
First job tomorrow morning is sort out the debris! There are plastic pots blowing about everywhere. Hopefully the missing panels will have blown next door. We have now learnt our lesson, we won't put the panels back in till March/April time. Next year we will take them out before winter hits!Debt free and Keeping on Track0 -
  Yikes Mrs P, that is Some Wind!0
-
MrsP - that is terrible wind..hope your greenhouse managed to survive the onslaught. I stayed in on Saturday night and only felt the wind when OH opened the window to have a smoke:rolleyes: Mind you the thought of him smoking makes me smile after the comments I received at Bham Airport from one of the policemen on the day we flew out - OH was desperate for a fag and asked where he could go and smoke, said policeman pointed him in the right direction whilst I stayed with the bags, policeman made a comment about smokers and how my chap must taste awful so I said that I didn't know because I never kiss him:rotfl:
Nipped to the bank today to put in some money and did a wee bit of shopping - I went to the Co-op because thats the only place I can get teeny bags of salad leaves. I am pleased that I managed to restrain myself from buying packs of chocolate teacakes which were on sale for 99p (14 or so in pack) - they're a favourite but they remain in the shop:j
I wonder how Strumps is getting on with his PVC pants?0 -
I wonder how Strumps is getting on with his PVC pants?
Maybe that's why we haven't heard from him:D
Horace the greenhouse is saved - all the panels are in the garage and its just the frame standing and it will stay that way now till early spring time. Then we will fit the panels back in.:j
Well done on the teacakes.
I weighed this morning and had lost 1 lb. Am so pleased as I was slightly naughty at the weekend;)Debt free and Keeping on Track0 -
Hi Everyone,
Sorry for leaving you all to your own devices lately - I seem to be soooo busy and have been run off my feet for the last week or so.
Catch up time:
Got back from ringing at Birmingham Cathedral on Saturday to find that OH has completely redecorated the hall, stairs and landing! The colour he has chosen is terra cotta but it looks pink to me - anyway, it is nice and now makes that area of the house look very warm indeed, as opposed to the yellow that was there before which was quite a cold colour. Excellent!!!
Saved quite a lot of £2 coins recently so I think I've reached my target of £100 by end of Jan. Will have to check though because I've just been stuffing them into the moneybox and I've lost count.
OH is still looking for pants but I passed on your suggestion, H, about it being skin that matters. Anyway, pole dancing classes have finished for a couple of weeks so there's time.
Been going to the gym a lot - (I know - amazing!!!) and I checked my weight yesterday at 7:00am (My weigh-in time is 07:00am Monday!) and I'd lost 6lbs since January 1st. Had a sneak weigh in last night though and had put 3lb back on! Which is why we should only weigh in once a week isn't it!!!!! I know the rules - I just can't follow them!!! OH and I are trying to play Badminton at least once a week and so far we've managed, but he's been a bit snuffly recently so this week may be off!
Paid the £287.50 electrician's bill yesterday - OUCH!!! Need to consolidate my finances for the rest of January.
We suffered from the storms on Saturday night - VERY windy indeed, but no damage only to be deluged in snow yesterday. All gone today though so that's good. Snow's very pretty but it's a nightmare round here with it being so hilly!
Off to do some work now - company is suffering from a cashflow shortage so I need to make some calls to tell people why their invoices are still outstanding. So far, all but one company have been supportive - the other was just rude. Seems that their request for payment has just found itself at the bottom of the pile!!! How did that happen?!?!
Have a good day!NIL ILLEGITIMUS CARBORUNDUM!Nov Grocery Challenge: £0.00 / £150.00
