    Happy New Year Everybody!

Apologies for not looking in over the festive period but there has been so much going on. Really enjoyed Christmas with OH - we reached a one month milestone of living together on Saturday - things are going well.

    Christmas & Birthday Presents:

    £100
    Mamma Mia DVD
    Alan Carr DVD
    Sex in the City DVD
Badminton Racquet and 3 shuttlecocks! (From OH - he will get me fit!)
    Electric Toothbrush
    Companion Set for the hearth
    Wine
    Brandy
    Pressure Cooker
    Pressure Cooker cookbook
    Gordon Ramsay Cookbook
    Jumper
    Candles
    Cufflinks
Subscription to BBC Good Food Magazine
    Toblerone

So I did quite well really, all things considered. New Year was spent ringing on the bells at Worcester Cathedral - we did it last year too and it was as superb as ever this year. Lots of champagne and mince pies!
Hope you all had a good time and I wish you all everything you wish for yourselves for 2009.

    On to business though:
    In 2009 I promise to:
    1. Get a damn sight fitter than I am now!
    2. Lower my cholesterol (recent hospital visit, I got told off!)
    3. Get control of the finances (should be easier with OH's money and working for my organbuilder friend)
    4. Eat more healthily
    5. Stop putting jobs off until tomorrow - tomorrow never comes and all that
    6. Become generally less stressed

Spent an hour playing badminton on Saturday in an attempt to kick start resolution No 1. Still aching today!!!

I have just come back from the spa - I have been wallowing in the outdoor plunge pool which is lovely and hot despite there being snow and frost on the ground, it was fab breathing in the country air (read this as being the smell of cow muck:rotfl: ).

It was a good idea of mine to join the spa as it is a great place to network as the folks that go there are farmers, wives of farmers, or those that run their own businesses e.g. riding schools etc - these are the folks that I am targetting for my business.:D Now I wonder if I can offset the membership against tax:confused:

I had a few presents - some particularly strange ones - my chum gave me a diary (she knows I use a filofax) and I cannot give the thing away because she has kindly put her family birthdays in so that I don't forget:rolleyes: and she gave me a pile of cardboard boxes currently flatpacked - apparently these are for my business. My parents gave me a £50 M&S gift card and an amaryllis - OH nowt so far although we are off to Spain on Friday and I have been told not to take any money with me:j Oh and he found an M&S gift card lying in the gutter when we went shopping, he gave it to me - I presented it when I paid for my new suit expecting them to say "its empty" but instead they said "it has £15 on it":j I like free money.

Glad you and OH had a fab time and that you enjoyed the bells at Worcester Cathedral.

Hello Strumpet - glad all is still going well with OH.

Your resolution to get fit is very similar to mine! Only I haven't started yet. I have started my diet today.

    My two main resolutions:
    1. Lose 2 stone by Easter
    2. Don't use my CC this year at all and aim to pay off all my CC debt by Christmas.

    Best of luck Mrs P.

OH and I are having a kind of bet - he said that if I lose 5lbs in January, he'll treat me! (presumably to a non fattening meal somewhere!!!)

    So I'm coming clean...

Over Christmas I have ballooned to 15 stone. So I aim to be at 14 stone 9lbs by 31st January 2009. I will achieve this through badminton and gym. Now OH has joined, we spur each other on to actually go to the gym.
    Wish me luck!

Ps Counted my spare cash last night and I've worked out that I started the year with £167.17 cash in my money boxes. Dishwasher fund has been commuted to a freezer fund as my current freezer is about to die. Having siad that, it was -8C in Nelson this morning so who needs a flippin' freezer anyway!!!

That's a lot of weight to put on over Christmas Strumps:eek:

Good luck with the d i e t and exercise regime. Maybe the treat that OH has planned is a holiday?

It's bloomin' cold here too, the pavements look treacherous so I won't be going out today, I will venture out to go to the bin because I am hoping the bin men came this morning to empty the two industrial sized bins which were full of Christmas boxes to the extent that I couldnt get my waste sack in there:mad: Why can't people break down boxes?

    Hey H

I didn't put on 15 stone over Christmas you know!
    I was 14 stone 7lbs so I put on half a stone.

I am more committed to this that I have ever been. OH and I have made a pact to look the best we can for our beach holiday later on in the year (as yet unbooked!).
