    L

Well done you! I'm catching up though, especially as I paid for a £9 round of drinks with a £20 note and got £11 change containing 5 £2 coins!

Concert went well on Saturday so that's another easy £50 made. Might have to give it to OH as he bought a roll of lino for our kitchen on Friday. and he has just spent nearly £1500 on the house in the last month.

Christmas is coming and I'm still struggling for cheap presents. Any ideas?
Using the company Bookers cash & carry card to save a bit.

OH is away in London until Wednesday, so I have 2 whole days to get his presents wrapped and put under the tree, which we decorated on Friday night. Gone for silver and blue in the back room and red and gold in the dining room. Never had two trees before! What sybaritic decadence!

cheap pressies for OH - now you are asking:rolleyes: What does he like? If he shaves then try and find him some Original Source Shave Gel (apparently its very good).

You could get him some sweeties for his desk - Lakeland do this plastic box with its own scoop containing all sorts of sweeties, it is fairly reasonable.

A badge saying "I've got everything"

A pair of marigold gloves and an apron.

Make a book of vouchers: massage, clean his car etc. etc. Go over onto the Special Occasions board and look at a thread about gifts for a fiver.

I also have two trees, one is my normal tall tree and the other is my small fibre optic one. I don't decorate the fibre optic one and the main tree has all my glass baubles on it - including the freebie vintage ones from freecycle:j

My OH has gone skiing for a week (I wasn't invited:rolleyes: ), he has gone with a chum who lives in Bolton of all places. Well my chap is really silly, and rang me in a tizz on Friday night to say that National Express coaches no longer go from Stockwell so he had to find a convoluted way to get to Gatwick Airport. I looked online on Saturday and found not only a coach from Stockwell to Gatwick (I know one exists because we have used it before) but also arranged to have the ticket sent to his mobile phone. He now owes me £14.50 but the little tinker has said take it out of the £100 I have put in your account to spend on yourself:mad: Now I don't mind the £100 spending money but I didnt particularly want to buy his ruddy coach ticket with it:mad: Anyway, he has gone now and will be back on Saturday.

Hope you find something for OH that you can put under the tree. Glad the concert went well too.
  • Oh H, you crack me up! All that effort you put in and then YOU had to pay for it too! At least you have £85.50 to spend on yourself now! :rotfl:

I went to Matalan last night and got myself a card. :T OH said he needed some JimJams to slob around in, so I got these from Matalan for £6. He's such a funny shape though - 44in chest and 32in waist - so this meant that all the packaged sets were either too tight round the shoulders or to big round the waist. Anyway, I bought him a medium - only £6 wasted if it's wrong. So he might have to squash into a medium with a generous allowance in the shorts. Ooh just realised how rude that sounds!

Anyway, with OH away in London, I spent a lovely evening last night, sat in my sitting room with the Christmas tree lights on (blue and white!), loads of scented candles, wrapping all the presents I bought yesterday from Bookers cash and carry! God that sounds cheap!!! And I suppose it was. I only spent £100 and I got 11 presents! I also managed to watch 4 episodes of Spooks back to back in a desperate attempt to empty the Sky recorder to make room for Christmas programmes we want to record!

    I bought:

2 x massive jars of mini eggs (one for Mum and one for a family of friends)
1 x massive jar of chocolate caramels (for Granny)
1 x bottle of black sambucca (for my boss and his wife)
1 x bottle of Archers (for my little brother)
    1 x bottle of Disaronno (for OH - present 1 of 4)
1 x 3kg box of Midget Gems!!! (for sister and brother-in-law (the big kids that they are!))
1 x Lounge set (shorts and top) (for OH - present 2 of 4)
1 x present for my assistant who reads this so I'm keeping schtum!
1 x whisky miniatures (for my step - mum)
1 x box of chewing gum (30 packs of 10) (for mum's partner - private joke!)

    Also have bought:

1 x beautiful mahogany clock and barometer for OH's desk (OH - present 3 of 4)

    Need to buy:

Box of wine for various people
Set of plastic skittles for my nephew (specifically asked for but proving impossible to find!)
Golf umbrella for my Dad - will get from Costco on Thursday
Pair of slippers for OH (present 4 of 4 and a desperate attempt to stop him wearing mine!):rolleyes2

So all in all, I think I'm almost on track!

Might actually be able to spend my birthday doing what I want to do rather than running around buying presents for other folk! OH and I are going to Funny Girls in Blackpool for my birthday. Should be a right laugh!

Have a good day one and all!

  • PS £2 fund up to £78 with £21 in 50p's that I seem to have accumulated at the same time!

PPS Had to change grocery challenge from target of £100 /month to £250 to account for the fact that there's two of us now! The extra £50 on top of 2 x £100 is to take into consideration that OH works from home a lot.

PPPS Earned £50 at the weekend by singing Charpentier's "Messe de Minuit".
