Wednesday 3rd December 2008
Hi guys! Happy (belated) birthday H! Hope you got lots of gifts! It is 3 weeks to mine so I'm looking forward to it now the exams are over!
Well today is the day - OH is moving in. I am terrified and elated at the same time. I know I will be next to useless at work today.
Sorry I've not been around for a wee while - I've been so busy trying to get the house sorted out. Electrician came on Friday to sort out a few odd jobs. Ended up condemning the downsatairs wiring to the lounge and kitchen as it has no earth and was feeding 48 volts to all the screws on the light fittings - no wonder the kitchen light gave me a bolt every now and again. Upshot is that now I have to have the electrician back to sort this out which is probably going to cost a fortune especially if the whole thing needs rewiring.
Just when I thought I was getting back on my feet!
B*stards!
I am so behind with my MSE-ing - haven't even done my figures for November yet. Everything is up in the air and I'm all at sixes and sevens. I've got a concert tomorrow and on the 13th so I'm trying to learn music for those. Can't wait for Christmas - I need a holiday!
Well off to do some invoicing now - remembering to charge VAT at 15% of course!!!
Strumpet
PS I just remembered:
My friend has his own business, tuning church organs and I've been looking over his accounts to help him with his VAT cos he's next to useless when it comes to figures. I've been teaching him to use his computer software but having looked over the figures on Sunday evening it's clear he's never going to get it! He said that the business is doing so well, he could afford to take someone on, so the upshot is that I have agreed to do his book-keeping for him which could net me £2000 a year pocket money. I've limited it to 10 hours a month for my sake and his but this is a great way for me to up my income very easily. I started on Monday just gone! Now I just have to sort out the tax implications!NIL ILLEGITIMUS CARBORUNDUM!Nov Grocery Challenge: £0.00 / £150.00

Yay - Strumpet's back! We've missed you.
Hope today is fab - as I am sure it will be - with OH moving in. How exciting! Lots of good karma for the electrics not to need the whole caboodle doing - but you do need it to be safe so that counts as necessary spending!
Extra work with your mate sounds brilliant. Now just need to get back on top of those figures and you're laughing.
But don't worry about any of it for today - just enjoy the start of this new phase in your life with your OH! :beer:0 -
Woot on the extra payments! That will pay nicely for the re-wiring, other bits and bobs and HOLIDAYS for you and OH!Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup

Welcome back stranger:D
Thanks for the birthday wishes - I didnt get many presents, my mate gave me a fair few so now I don't need to buy any bath smellies for the next 12 months and my parents gave me £25. My ex bought me some cheap Asda biscuits - I offered to pay for them but he refused (I like some of Asda's cheap biscuits). As for my OH - nada, not even a card just the usual bull's poo about how he is going to make it up to me, I was so angry yesterday that I sent him the link to Interflora:mad:
Had a long chat with another mate last night - he is being interviewed on Friday as part of a huge media exercise with Remploy as they have found him a job. This job was going to be permanent but then the company concerned turned it into a temp one for 3 months:mad: I told my mate that if they didn't give him a permanent job after this then he should borrow a wheelchair and sit outside the shop with a huge banner and get the press involved.
Hope the move goes well today, set down some rules so that OH does his share and doesnt make you do all his ironing etc.
I might send you my books Strumps when the time comes - I was given an excel spreadsheet last week to use to enter all my figures because it will give me a profit and loss account too, I don't see how tbh. I have always hated using excel, it is too mathematical for me:rolleyes: I use some proper accounting paper to keep my books, at the moment it is only my expenses which I shall claim back when I start getting paying customers - maybe I can offset them all against tax
Re - the electrics, it is better to be safe than sorry because we don't want a frazzled and crispy Strumpet.
Have fun today;)0 -
Hi Strumpet - welcome back!!!
Hope all goes well with OH and the move - its an exciting time for you, no wonder you haven't been around much.
Great news about the extra little job - not so great about the electrics but at least one will balance the other out!Debt free and Keeping on Track0 -
Thanks for all your good wishes - it means a lot.
OH moving in will be good for me because he galvanises me into doing the things I should be doing but prefer to put off. He's also my best friend and looks after me.NIL ILLEGITIMUS CARBORUNDUM!Nov Grocery Challenge: £0.00 / £150.00
