Having OH around is very good for me. Saving lots of money by not having to have the electric blanket on at night anyway!
Off up to Kendal this evening for a choir rehearsal for Saturday's concert. Not really looking forward to it - basically cos I haven't learnt the music fully yet but hey! there's a full 4 days yet!
Just discovered that OH has expensive tastes going by the increase in Tesco Finest stuff appearing in the fridge!

I am glad your OH is settling in although I disagree about the electric blanket - I still switch mine on when OH comes to stay because his feet are like ice blocks and I don't do cold feet:eek:
At least he only eats Tesco Finest - the time to worry is when he starts bringing home Waitrose or M&S food.
Good luck with the singing in Kendal tonight (grab yourself some mintcake to warm your cockles).:D0 -
My DH insists on having the electric blanket on and he's like a radiator himself!!
I've never been to Kendal but I'm sure I'd like the mintcake - thats one of my problems I like my food - especially cake!Debt free and Keeping on Track0 -
Mintcake is ace! When I was at school, my school route took me past one of the mintcake factories. We used to knock on the windows and ask if they had any broken bits. They used to pass huge handfuls of mintcake through the window and we happily munched our way to school. It's 99.9% sugar though, so you can imagine our teeth and weight problems!!!
Anyway, went to the rehearsal last night (unprepared I have to say! - :embarasse Shame!) and it was a bit of a disaster. Our solo, trio and quartet bits were just dire! We were spread out across the choir and I just couldn't hear my fellow singers. It's hard to measure balance and pitch if you can't hear your fellow singers. So more work to do there then! Really need to buckle down and sort it once and for all.
OH has been busy in the house, putting up lots of his pictures and really settling in. I'm pleased because it means that he feels comfortable in his new surroundings.
Ringing a peal tonight so that'll be £3 out if we score. Not going to the pub though so I'll save there.
So what are you lot up to today then?

Sorry to hear the singing didn't work out too well, but good call on the money for the peal AND on your OH settling in!
Oh and if the Tesco Finest comes out of his pocket them smile sweetly and enjoy :beer:Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup

Hi strumpet - I will make it one of my New Year's Resolutions to try Kendal mintcake!
I'm busy at work, but I'm going out for a Christmas lunch!Debt free and Keeping on Track0 -
Sorry to hear about the choir Strumps, I am sure it will all work itself out in the end.
Work is slow, I am still trying to get clients but in the meantime I have been increasing my contact list, watching DVDs that potential suppliers have sent me, placing free adverts on websites (one of them has offered free web advertising for ever yet want to charge me £679 plus VAT for an ad in their magazine - it just doesn't compute). I have been using the dreaded Vistaprint to get free stuff, so that I have some things for my stand at a wedding fair that I am doing on 15 Feb (I was given a free stand). I remain positive and told them at the chamber of commerce today that I wasn't going to sign on for dole money at the end of my test trading period as I will apply for working tax credit instead (I get dole money now but they call it trading allowance instead).
Had a busy day today, hopped on and off buses all day, as I was walking down the road I was asked if I would like to do a survey on toothpaste and earn £5 so I said yes - well it is £5 that I didnt have before I went out. I spent it on lunch. During my lunch I noticed that folks were staring at me and in particular at a point above my left boob and I looked down and saw a sticker marked STRETCH that I had missed when I took the labels off my rollneck jumper this morning - I had even been in a meeting with the label on display:o I was so cold today, that I nipped into Primark (I love that place) and picked up two cardigans one is a wool mix and the other acrylic so that when I arrived at the hospital, I nipped into the ladies and took the labels off the wool one and slipped it on over my jumper - I am now warm:D
Had to go to the eye hospital today to see the optician - he told me that as I have a complicated prescription and I am on the dole that I get £54 off my glasses. Well, I needed some reading glasses so he made sure that we selected some frames that including the lenses would come to £54 making them free but I decided to have some anti-reflection coating added and had to pay £26 for this:j Now I am wondering, if I will get another £54 towards my new distance glasses that I need to get although I might be crafty and wait until the new year:D
Had a disaster in the kitchen tonight - I poured some water down the sink and heard running water in the cupboard under the sink - I opened the door and saw that my large roasting pan was full of smelly, dirty water:eek: I turned the tap on and crouched down and peered under the sink and as fast as the water was going in it was coming out. I have a pile of washing up to do and can't do it and I have a cupboard full of water. I have had to call the landlord to see if he will send his men to fix it tomorrow - I cannot do without washing up, I only have a small kitchen with limited worktop space so cannot pile everything up:rolleyes:
Glad OH is settling in nicely. He sounds like a real gem.:D0 -
Sorry to hear about your waterworks H! Sounds really nasty.
I have had electricians in today to make my wiring safe after finding out that the light switches downstairs all had 48 volts running through them! The invoice has yet to arrive so heaven knows how much that will cost!
OH is settling in nicely and you're right - he is a real gem. It's great having him around.
Got another 3 £2 coins in my change today - lost count of where I'm up to though but well on the way to this month's target of £100!
Off for a coffee now!

The waterworks have been fixed and I have been told not to put things in the cupboard so I will have to buy a wall hanging pot rack so that I can shift my saucepans out of one cupboard to free up some space to put the roasting tins and other assorted useful kitchen items in. I still have lots of washing up to do:rolleyes:
At least your electricity is now safe - I had visions of you switching on the lights and your hair standing on end. Hopefully OH will contribute towards the electrics.
Why don't you sit and count out the £2 coins tonight? I haven't had any for a few days now:rolleyes: but I have managed another NSD:j
Enjoy your coffee.
