Hi Strumpet - glad to hear that the exams are now over and that you have done well:D
As for looking like a spacehopper in trunks whilst on the beach at Mykonos - some guys go for the cuddly look so you'll be ok:D Just eat less and walk more that should do the trick. Well, I have been offered another free exercise trip to deliver 600 leaflets for the Conservatives - lots of walking, bending and stretching involved as well as lots of steps (I always pick the side of the street that has houses on hills:rolleyes: ).
You are going to beat me on NSDs - I have to go out spending again tomorrow as I need to go to the butcher and back to Wilkinsons because I have seen a nice bookcase (more like a stack of shelves that are more gappy that a bookshelf) for £19, it is metal framed and whilst I have a man in, he can build it for me plus it will get him doing something other than either lounging in bed, slumping in front of the telly like luc ruddy picard or hogging my laptop:mad:
I have been very MSE today - I went to Tesco and used a fiver off voucher found in the local snoozepaper (if you spent £15 or more then you would get a fiver off), I used some coupons from the tesco health club, bought things that were on offer and then found the aisle with the "must sell today or we'll have to dump it" shelf and came out with a lemon meringue pie and 2 packs of chicken thighs - one containing 5 thighs and the other containing 7 - these have now been split and are residing in the freezer along with the 6 I bought from the butcher in the week - its a good job I like chicken:D
Just wondering if you are prepared for the snow that we are supposed to be having at the weekendI think we will get a bit in Brum on Sunday (we always do as we are on a hill) but it will hopefully be gone by the afternoon - I don't do English snow, I only do Austrian snow. Mind you it might be a nice day to visit the German Market as it will be more authentic with a spot of snow on the ground and it will make the gluhwein tastier.
Hope you have a fab weekend

Morning everyone.
Well Horace, you've been right busy haven't you , my little Rubik's Cube! And well done on all that chicken - just make sure you don't eat too much or you'll end up clucking!
My finances have taken a disastrous turn - I seem to be struggling to make ends meet at the moment. Still, when OH finally moves in, he'll give me some board money so that will help out. I really need to stamp on my spending though. I sort of let it slip a bit whilst the exams were on - you know how it is. Cheer up food and stuff. Must get back to the MSE ways as soon as possible - like now!
NSDs this month have taken an absolute dive - my mind just hasn't been on it at all but I suppose that's understandable and I shouldn't beat myself up too much. But of course I will!
What am I going to do for Christmas presents on the cheap? Told the family not to expect big stuff cos I'm skint. No point deliberately increasing the debt burden. I think they understand. I might just bake zillions of mince pies and give them out. Festive treats and full of love!
Right - must get back to work now. Will pop back later. Got a choir rehearsal tonight with the Elizabethan singers in Preston. I'm helping out for my mate who is conducting them at the moment. I may have to sing alto and bass, though hopefully not at the same time!!! He's promised to take me for a pizza to say thanks so that's a free meal for tonight!
Hey H - keep up the good work!

Morning Strumps
No need to beat yourself up over not being MSE of late - it happens to us all from time to time:rolleyes: Try doing a few mystery shops - the odd £10 here and there helps.
I received £20 from mystery shopping on Saturday and went out with the intention of spending it and espied a lovely (well it looks lovely to me) oak tea trolley/card table (a clever cantilever thing) in a charity shop but my OH told me to leave it where it was. Well, I have stewed over it all weekend and nipped out this morning to go and buy it, I even got them to put it in my car for me and when I got home one of the landlord's workmen was decorating Flat 1 so he kindly carried it up the stairs to my flat. Top has already been partly sanded.
Admittedly the trolley has been covered in dark varnish which has worn and the brass bits on it are as black as your hat but once it has my loving touch it will look absolutely fabulous:D I may keep it or put it in an auction because something similar recently sold at my local auction house for £65 (that wouldn't be a bad return for my edwardian trolley !!! table):D
Shall try and be good for the rest of the day though.
Good luck with the singing tonight:D0 -
Don't beat yourself up Strumpet, exams are always bad news when it comes to money!

Hi Strumpet - I'd just like to echo what everyone else has said. At least you have recognised that you are struggling and are going to do something about it.
I'm feeling bad today as have managed to avoid using the credit card for 3 months but now have to as we have a very large unforseen expense on DH's motorbike. Its his main form of transport to and fro work every day and theres really no other way round except to use the CC. I am so disappointed as we were doing so well. Never mind, just pick myself up, dust myself off and start right over again. There are bound to be lots of ups and downs and hurdles and obstacles, some will be easy some will be downright difficult.
On a happier note I found a book of 1st class stamps at the weekend and when I picked it up there were two unused 1st class stamps in it!! :j I used them both this morning when sending off cheques for two of the credit cards.:D
I am sure your family will understand regarding the presents. Things came to a head with my brother and I about 20 years ago. I handed him a Christmas card with a tenner in it. He opened it, took out the tenner said "thanks" and handed me my card with the same tenner. We both laughed and agreed that we didn't need to exchange presents - we would always be there for each other and didn't need to show it in the form of presents.
I think making mince pies or even a cake is a much nicer way - also means you can share in the eating of it as well.:D
Somewhere else on this forum there was mention of "recipe in a jar" or "gift in a jar" (if you put that in the search you should find it). Where you get a jar and you layer the ingredients in it for say muffins and tie it off with a pretty ribbon and a label with how to make the cake - also instructions on anything you need to add like liquid or egg. I think that's a fab idea.:TDebt free and Keeping on Track0 -

Thanks Mrs P - that's a great idea.
And don't you worry about spending on the CC - you're using it in the way it was intended - for emergencies rather than everyday spending.
And you're also looking at it in the wrong way.
You are beating yourself up over what you spent, when you should be congratulating yourslef on what you haven't spent! Consider this - if you had carried on as normal, you'd now be looking at a spend on the CC for DH's bike ON TOP OF three months of CC spending. You were always going to have to pay for the bike! So you're still better off by the three months you've saved!
That's how I see it anyway!
Moneywise today - not much going on although I will have to buy my lunch - fridge is bare!
