Gosh, you two have had a couple of hectic days. Well done on the goody bag Horace - anything you don't want out of that collection you can ebay and get some dosh!
Now for some MSE news.
Got a cheque for £67.50 yesterday from my second job.
Won £18 on a lottery scratchcard.
Bought a huge turkey leg from Morrisons for £3.29 and I'm about to have meal number 7 off it, not to mention the gallon of stock it has made for future soups!!!
Telling Pendle council today that I am home alone and if they'd like to reduce my Council tax by 20% that would be great!!!

Strumps - good news about the council tax!
I won £1 on a scratchcard the other day - swapped it for another one and didn't win a thing.
Have a good weekend everyone - I'll be gardening (weather permitting).Debt free and Keeping on Track0 -
Good news on the lottery win and the salary and fingers crossed for the council.
Have a good weekend all - can't stop too much to do0 -
Hi All,
Sorry for not posting yesterday - just one of those days. Today looks like being the same as for some reason, the MD, Sales Director, Business Development Manager and both Business Administrators are off today and so I am all alone in the office. Well I can only answer one phone line at once can't I?!
Anyway - good news on the grocery front - I overspent by £6.19 last week on the old groceries so I had to reign in my belt this week. I'm also trying to eat more healthily and do more exercise so I wasn't buying junk anyway, but I managed to spend only £17.17 which I am thrilled about as I got everything I wanted too, including a whole trout for 25p. I wanted trout for tea anyway so was not bothered that the sell-by date was up. What a bargain! This also included three bottles of fairy liquid for £3 - the big 650ml bottles too! I also bought loads of meat pieces (which were mostly cubes of ham) for a pea & ham soup I'm making with the stock from the turkey leg I cooked last week. The meat pieces were 32p / 100g - bargain.
This means that my grocery spends are now £48.36 which is inside my target of £25 / week so I'm back on track!
Does anyone know about council tax? I might be taking in another lodger until September - a friend who's back from university. He is exempt from CT but am I able to still claim single person if I take him in?

Hi Strumps
Well done on the bargain food.
I know nowt about council tax - I am having enough trouble with my own because my claim for HB and CTB have been put on hold and I may just have to start paying it again:mad: I nearly fell off the chair when I saw how much I would have to pay:eek: The council are being awkward because I am self employed and get WTC - they're a bunch of jobsworths.
Ventured to the shops on Sunday - out of sheer desperation because I had nothing to eat, so I spent a grand total of £48 and it included a treat - I bought the Ministry of Sound Chillout Album. It was roast chicken for dinner on Sunday, then lunch yesterday, tea last night - I have a feeling I will be living on this bird for a week:rolleyes: Bought some mince from the butcher today which cost me £1.30 (I will freeze it).
Tomorrow I am off to Bescot Stadium to go to a seminar that I have booked (an all day job) so I couldnt get the lift I was promised because the offer was withdrawn and I don't want to drive there so I found that I can go on the train for £5.90 return - so I am taking the train:D
Uhm...its a sign of poor planning if there is only you left in the office. Have they done a risk assessment because there are laws regarding lone working?0 -
There are people downstairs in the factory and one of them has been sat in the office with me this morning. The others are not all on holiday - the two sales people are out seeing customers and the MD is on an all day medical appointment - some kind of scan.
It's quite nice actually - the phones are not too busy and I can spend time planning my route to hunkdom although I didn't do well in the gym last night - too full of !!!!!! sat on the machines gassing and lauding it over us fat kids.
Some of them think they are IT but I know from all my research that although they might have nice bodies, they are sailing close to the wind with regard to risking injury. Their form is rubbish - lifting far too heavy weights. I think I shall engineer my day to include gym in the morning when the !!!!!! are still in bed nursing their aching joints.
I make gallons of pea & ham soup tonight. Like you I am stretching the purchase of poultry to its limits. If I can get 5 portions of soup out of this batch, the turkey leg I bought last week will have done me 12 meals for about £5NIL ILLEGITIMUS CARBORUNDUM!Nov Grocery Challenge: £0.00 / £150.00

Aaah at least you're not totally on your own if you have folks in the factory.
Gyms tend to be full of blokes and girls who are full of themselves which is why I tend to avoid such places getting my exercise elsewhere. It appears that my name has been put down for a charity car wash this Saturday (it should be good as the firestation is in the heart of student land:D) - I am sure it's my mate's further attempt at matchmaking:rolleyes: I met this guy on Saturday at the carnival (a first responder) who I was chatting to, he is really nice but I only see him as a friend but my mate seems to think that I should jump his bones:eek: I don't even fancy him:rolleyes: So what's the betting on Saturday I won't be able to raise my right arm above my head - like last time:rolleyes: Can't a girl talk to a chap without people thinking dirty thoughts?
I had a chicken leg with salad for lunch and still have the carcass and two wings to go. I am thinking that I need to get some carrots (have realsed I have none) and then I can sling the whole thing into a pan of water with some onions, seasoning and herbs and make a soup. Will strain the bones off and chuck in some mixed veg too.
Oh well, best get on with some work - I am trying to pluck up courage to ring my web designer to see how much it would cost to do a massive overhaul or how much they will charge me to move my site to a different host. At the moment my site is out of date (well, I think it is) and I need to be able to change it myself which is something I can't do at the moment.:rolleyes:0 -
All that talk about food is making me hungry. I'm having problems sticking to my diet at the moment. However, I did manage to stay the same this week which is better than putting on.
Sorry Strumpet - I know nothing about council tax, but there must be a thread about it on here somewhere and I am sure someone will know the answer to it.
Had cottage pie for dinner tonight.
Weather is terrible here and last night it was like winter:eek:Debt free and Keeping on Track0 -
The weather here was terrible this afternoon - I am wearing a thick fleece too:rolleyes: Mind you, the forecast is good for the weekend:j0
