Hi Strumpet,
Like a few other people I have been a bit of a lurky. Anyway just been reading your diary and catching up. I just wanted to say sorry about you and OH.
I was with my OH for seven years and then we split up. I always thought she was the one, but it just did not work out for lots of reasons. It was very hard living on my own again as I have lived with her for about 6 out of the 7 years we had been together. But as time passed I got use to it and went out more with my friends, and join the Gym myself and got fit. Well if you can call it that :rotfl:
I have now finally met somebody else after being on my own for a year and a bit.
So keep your chin up, you will be fine. I am sure you are strong

Thanks for the encouragement MF. I'm glad it all worked out for you.
I was thinking about it a lot last evening whilst I was driving home from my bellringing practice along the side of Widdop reservoir. It was almost dark but not quite and in the distance I could still see the remnants of the sunset far away to the north west. It made me think that all was well with the world and that everything happens for a reason. I am sorry OH left because I loved him very much, but I understand his reasons. I don't hate him. Actually, I am looking forward to spending time and money on myself and sorting myself out. Perhaps it should be seen as a new beginning rather than a sad ending.
I hope he's Ok wherever he is.
And anyway you....stop lurking and get posting!!!
I'd be interested to know what you did to get fit - I lack motivation and knowledge about how to go about it.
Please tell me your secrets!

Hi Strumpet,
I will tell you what did keep me sane and focused during the first few months living on my own after my split.
LOST, 24, PRISON BREAK and to a lesser extent Heroes.

Hi Strumpet,
In answer to your question for getting fit.
The final straw for me was about 19 months ago. I went to buy some new trousers for work and I had to buy a bigger size, and I had never had that size in my life. That was all the motivation I needed.
I play a lot of badminton, always have, since sixth form. So I just played more, three nights a week. Played for a club and a team. Then a couple of nights a week I would go running. Now that can be tough to motivate yourself for. But I always feel really good when I come back from a run.
I am lucky in that there is a gym in work, which you can use after work, which I have used a few times.
But I tend to just play badminton, run and do some weights at home.
I lost two stone about 12 months ago, I was the fittest I had ever been and went down 3 trouser sizes. However, recently, I have been drinking a bit too much wine and beer.
So need to lose a few pounds again.
:rotfl:
Hope this helps

Hi MF
It's the motivation I lack/ I would go running but get terrible shinsplints which hurt like hell. I used to play badminton with my OH but now he's gone, I'm partnerless! I guess doing weights at home would be ok as I have a set of dumbells and also, doing it at home, means I am not going to be embarassed until I've toned a bit. I need to take some before and after photos!
Thanks for the advice!NIL ILLEGITIMUS CARBORUNDUM!Nov Grocery Challenge: £0.00 / £150.00

Hi
Yes I was paranoid about going to the gym to start off with. That is why I started at home, I have a exercise bike and some weights at home. I staretd with them and bought a copy of mens health when it had a training program in for weedy beginers like myself :rotfl:
Good look and I am sure you will do it.
Shame you did not live nearer, could of had a game of badminton.

Hello MF I'm a serious Lost fan! Don't know what to do with myself now its not on.
I'm having serious trouble sticking to my diet - and I did so well in the first couple of weeks - I'm hanging on in there by the skin of my teeth and weight is staying the same. I need to find my motivation and keep going.:DDebt free and Keeping on Track0 -
Strumpet - I would of went easy on you. I was rubbish to start off with. You only improve by playing people better than you. Perhaps you should see if there is a local club. It is a bit hard going on your own to start off with, but you will meet people in no time. It is defo more enjoyable than running or going to the gym.
MrsPorridge - Hi, yes I have nothing to watch now that lost has finished, and 24. When I split up with my wife about 18 months ago, I started watching lost. I bought the box sets as I had lots to catch up on. It kept me occupied, when living on my own for the first time in 7 years. :rotfl:
Only one more season to go and then THE END. LOL

This is a very sleepy but wired kind of post.
Now Strumps - what delightful prize have I won?
I did actually acquire a free book today - I was listening to the trainer when he suddenly asked if anyone wanted a copy of a book The Business Coach by Brad Sugars (he financially retired at 26:eek:) so immediately I shoved my hand up and I got it:j am chuffed as the book normally costs £24.95.
Was given 2 bars of chocolate by a woman who runs a chocolate wrapping business (actually a franchise from the chap running the training course - he has fingers in many pies), and I met a really interesting chap so we are going to meet soon to see how we can work together, hopefully I will be able to pick up business from him.:D
Welcome MF to Strumps diary - hope he doesnt shout at you for dropping crumbs (he is always doing that to me:rolleyes:).0
