Have you tried putting some washing up liquid on the marks and scrubbing them before you put it into the washer?
This might help? It does on grease stains. Always worth a try!Debt Free Date:10/09/2007 :j :money:0 -

I've got the dreaded white deoderant marks on a favourite t-shirt - help! How do I get them out without buying one of those expensive mixes?

Hiya, I haven't ventured to this part of the site before. I'm hoping for some suggestions as to how i can remove sweat smells and deodorant 'crisping' from the underarms of my hubbys work t-shirts.
I have tried repeatedly washing them, stain removers, 'crystal' clear deodorants but nothing has worked so far. The condition of them is fine other than this- but i'm still going to have to throw them out.
Ideas appreciated

Hello foxy-lady
If I have any heavily soiled garments to wash, I use Ariel Biological Automatic Powder.;)
I'll move your thread to the 'Old Style' board, where the laundry experts will help you.
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.

For sweat smells- slosh undiluted vinegar on the sweaty areas of the clothes and leve for a few hours then wash as normal."This site is addictive!"

Hi
I've got this same problem with my menfolk's shirts. I've tried the vinegar method but the shirts were too far gone for that to work. The only thing I've found that works for us is to use a tub of Vanish OxyAction - that pink tub they advertise on the tv.
I make a paste according to the instructions and put that on the affected area and then wash the shirts with another generous scoop in with the washing powder.
It costs a lot but I wait until I've got a load of badly affected shirts and treat them all at once. Besides, one tub costs less than a new shirt - even from the charity shop. I've tried the £1 tubs from the £1 shop but they did not work at all on our shirts.
