Hi all_hours,
There's an earlier thread with lots of suggestions that might help so I've added your thread to it.

thank you pink winged,
i looked at this and the other threads last night but with all the different suggestions got a little confused which to try first - theres one that tried bicarb on a black jacket and the armpits went green + i wasnt sure if the suggestions for white vinegar were white or dark clothes - doesnt it act like a bleach.
judging by the snow outside - i have plenty of time to try fix my little black tops before the warm weather returns. :rolleyes:0 -
An even bigger moneysaving solution ... just keep your arms by your sides at all times, then no-one will see the marks anyway! tee hee0

Hiya, I haven't ventured to this part of the site before. I'm hoping for some suggestions as to how i can remove sweat smells and deodorant 'crisping' from the underarms of my hubbys work t-shirts.
I have tried repeatedly washing them, stain removers, 'crystal' clear deodorants but nothing has worked so far. The condition of them is fine other than this- but i'm still going to have to throw them out.
Ideas appreciated
xx
Have searched the threads so far but couldn't spot any answers to the 'crisping' problem. My OHs shirts suffer from this and it's a nightmare, nothing that I have tried so far (bicarb, vinegar, citric acid) has worked, possibly because these are more for staining.
Any and all ideas gratefully received!0 -
my sons socks go crispy.. I soak them in bio powder and it breaks down all the nasties and makes them soft again.
There is a reagent thing you can get which boosts the enzyme reaction in bio powder but I can't for the life of me remember what it is called.. oxyclean... is that it?? scoop some in and put the rinse hold on the washing machine and leave to stew overnight.. works on sons socks.. and hubbys work shirts..LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Perhaps I could get some bio powder just for soaking the shirts before washing - I can't wash in Bio powder because it sets off OHs excema!
Anyone know if bio powder is easy to dissolve in a bucket/sink of water?
My machine doesn't have a rinse hold (sadly - I didn't realise when I was buying it. Quite a few years ago now but I can't justify or afford the expense of replacing it) but I could try stopping the machine when all the soapy water is in it.
I think I used to see something called Bio Tex which was a pre-wash soaking thing - maybe that would do it?0 -
if you were only going to use it occasionally I'd be tempted to just get a bottle of the bio liquid.. then you could just use a cap full or whatever. Have you tried the value powders? They are the only ones I can use with our eczema and psoriasis..LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0

Thanks Pigpen, I hadn't thought of liquid - that would be so much easier for soaking. I reckon if I use it as a sort of pre-soak and then wash with the usual stuff there should be no excema problems.
I usually use eco-friendly Bio-D washing powder, it costs a bit more but I have cut down to half the recommended amount after reading tips here and so it lasts for ages and does all the normal stuff really well.0 -
Can anyone give me any ideas on removing deoderant stains from clothes? a friend of mine was complaining about them and I told her to change her deoderant but I doubt she would be able to get rid of them.
The material has gone all hard and white but I don't think its bleached them if that makes sense.
