  • I got an email this morning to say a charge has been placed on my account - now there shouldn't be any charges as far as I'm aware, there should be enough money in there to cover anything going out - I can't log on to find out what its for and when I rang they said that systems were down so they couldn't check. I asked how did they send email out then, and she said some of the systems were working
I'm worried now - my brother had 11k fraudulently taken out of his cahoot loan account last week........ theres something going on for sure

Maybe not, but the fact that their systems/disaster recovery provisions are so poor is enough for me to move to another bank for my primary current account. No access for over 24 hrs in the current climate is just not good enough.

My feelings too. I think they will see a big rush to transfer money when the site is up again.
  • I have just drawn cash successfully. They either have a gross security problem (most likey) or a liquidity problem and are seeking funds. Now news articles on the web but this lack of access should reach the news soon.

I never save my details in the browser and always type www.ca.. into the address bar. NEVER save passwords for crucial logins on your computer and especailly your laptop if you take it out.

    Thanks for your time.
  • The problem for me isn't the technical issue, I know from experience these things happen and will get fixed eventually.

The major points of concern are that there is no DR system in place - something which would not have happened had they still been based in the UK and the appalling customer service.

Basically they have lied to us the customer and have not kept us informed of the issue, it would have been so easy to put up a static page on their home page explaining what was happening. And as for the press release, why couldn't they send an email to their customer base?

I'm sure this would not have happened had they still been based in the UK and in my opinion situations like this are a direct result of the computer systems being moved to Spain - something I wasn't aware of until today.

I for one will be moving my current account, I'm sorry to say it's adi!s cahoot.

Took my complaint 'Up the line' a bit and apparantly the MD will be posting on their website later today(?) with an explanation.

Pleae don't worry about your money being safe but my concern is checkng funds paid in so that I can send goods out and the loss of business resulting.

After 24 hours NO-ONE can say what caused the fault or what the fault is or how long it'll take to fix. Bl00dy inept, and considering this is the second largest bank in Europe and they dont have a back-up system??

Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.
  • The site is now completely unavailable! I'm glad I sorted out my payments a couple of days ago!
  • I their computer systems are abroad then that fails my criteria for a bank account so I will have to close them. Can anyone confirm that for sure? That's despite this current PR balls up!

    Thanks for your time.

I used my Cahoot debit card to withdraw £480 yesterday evening from a Natwest cash machine, and the same amount again this morning from the same machine. The cash machine could not tell me my balance. A Halifax cash machine said I had zero funds available.

An attempt to make an online transfer using the same Cahoot debit card was rejected with the error "Worldpay have been unable to obtain payment clearance from your bank..."

I can only conclude that Nat West cash machine transactions do not need access to the issuing bank.

It is surprising that Cahoot are claiming dependency on a Spanish power supply because Cahoot was created before Santander bought Abbey in 2004.
