Well it's a darned sight better than the half baked response I received, which judging from the typos was not boilerplate, but at the same time did not actually respond to the precise complaint I raised.

You'd think a well established organisation, whether Cahoot or Santander, would have these sort of escalation procedures well and truly honed by now. It beggars belief that they were content last weekend to just display nonsense on the website. When you combine the Cahoot experience with my recent appaling service from Alliance and Leicester you do have to wonder what the world is coming to. I've recently also had to raise a dispute/chargeback with my credit card company against a bricks and mortar retailer who has taken money, failed to deliver within two weeks and failed to refund after a further week. Three strikes in less than a month. It's pathetic.

Yes, at the age of 47 I really am a grumpy old man, and I think with very good reason.
  • Tdood, if you want the email addy of the manager, PM me. I had sent two emails to the generic cahoot "contact us" address and had two generic responses without answering the questions I posed, hence going to the top, where I am of the general agreement that they do service you better than the people at the bottom of the organisational tree.

Yes, it's a lot better than the reply I was fobbed off with, but it's still wanton fobbing. It's depressing how someone with such a shaky grasp of English grammar can rise to the top of the cahoot tree, but I suppose we shouldn't be surprised, given how appalling the rest of the organisation is becoming. I used to be a huge cahoot fan, but it is wearing off.

That's a pretty amazing lack of command of English from someone described as the Cahoot Centre Manager, isn't it? Never use one word when six words of jargon can confuse the issue so much more completely.

There's only one answer, though - and that's to dump any bank owned by Santander. They don't care about their customers, they don't know how to run a bank, and they don't care if the whole thing collapses around them.

It's available for me, but there is a message on my homepage warning that the website may be unavailable from 1730hrs Saturday to 0500hrs Monday for essential maintenance.

This will be confirmed by email on Friday.

Down for me too. All I can see is an "unavailable" message, without any precise time. Just says it will be unavailable "for a short time" ............ that short time has now lasted for 2 full days.

Never received any email about any downtime either.

Let's hope it will be up and running tomorrow morning.

Probably will ditch Cahoot now, just need to decide which other bank to go to.

Whatever "essential maintenance" they carried out, it didn't work.

I can not log in with Firefox at all, but have managed to log in using IE. It's incredibly slow, and once I am on my personal homepage, I can't actually do anything further. I either get just a blank screen, or an error message telling me what to do if I have difficulties applying for an account!

The incompetence of Cahoot is staggering. Definitely time to close the account and move to another bank.

I'm able to log in with Firefox, but it won't let me change security or view messages. No money to speak of in the account - and there never will be.
