Has anybody any idea how you can quantify a late payment on your credit files?

Not sure what you mean by 'quantify' - - all I can suggest is you check with the outfits that might have got their money too late and confirm with them they haven't given you a black mark. If they have, you'll have a case to go to Cahoot with.

I had one DD payment due to Egg due yesterday, and to my big relief, the money had arrived promptly at Egg. Hopefully this means that all DDs/SOs were actually processed in time. Would be really helpful if Cahoot actually told their customers whether this is the case, but may be they don't know.....

Cahoot working ok now for me, can't detect any difference to how it looked before. I have already transferred some money out, and will move my current account to elsewhere when I have made up my mind which bank I'll go with.
  • Came across this - its an comparison of a dozen online banks, in terms of security etc. May be a useful starting point for further research for those thinking about leaving Cahoot...

likewise transactions for me, website is just a bit out on the updating of the transactions on the user interface.

It looks as if all main information is intact and that customer account info will be updated gradually over the next few days. and that the main core banking was probably uninterupted

It is a reminder for me, sadly, that I will need to add two/three working days to setting up any future transactions of importance.

Bit like the old days when you posted a cheque in the letterbox and crossed your fingers.
Are we not lucky to be able to expect so much

My position is that a payment for the full balance of a credit card was made last monday 13th in order to arrive by today 17th. In the event of it not arriving I will suffer the following:-

    1. late payment fee from cc.

    2. Full interest charged by credit card.

    3. Black mark on my credit files for late payment.

Number 1 & 2 above will result in a provable financial loss for which, hopefully, Cahoot will reimburse me WITHOUT any hassle.

However number 3 is my main concern. The black mark on my credit file will be there for a year(I think this is the correct length of time)!! This will affect my ability to get credit or possibly the interest rate i will have to pay should I need it.

What is Cahoot going to do about this??

I know you are concerned about the "what if" - - but you don't know whether it will happen, and from what happened with my DD and from what I have seen from others, things actually seem to be working 'as normal' in the background. Not an awful lot you can do about it yourself now, other than to stay calm and to monitor what's happening.

Why not call or email Cahoot CS and ask them to confirm that your particular payment will be (has been, by now?) made on time. If they can't confirm, you can write to them today detailing what action/compensation you expect from them.

I believe you can make a note on your credit file can't you to explain various parts of it? Maybe if you can get a letter from Cahoot you could get it added as an explanation? Using a combination of your statement transaction dates, and a letter or even a copy of their secure message "apology" to you, you should be able to construct something to put on your file.

Whether this would make any difference to a lender's process I dont know, but it might. Also, maybe call your lender with an explanation for the late payment, and maybe they have a process to stop the "black mark" from showing up on your credit records? Just a thought....
  • Also just another thought - if you call them and the payment hasnt gone through, maybe they will put a free CHAPS payment through for you? That should get there same day to the cc company? I would have thought thats the least they can do to minimise your disruption and try and rebuild some customer goodwill?

    Thanks for advice folks.

No details on Cahoot but checked with c card and payment arrived yesterday, 4 working days, which is the norm based on past experience. Hopefully others will be ok.

If it had been next week on Wednesday though a dd would possibly have been missed to Virgin MBNA card on the 2nd payment on an 0% deal......could have been fun.

I don't think anyone will get a black credit mark - it is a systems failure rather than an unpaid DD due to insufficient funds. I'm confident that this will be apparent to the DD beneficiaries.
