DH phoned earlier there were 10 cars on the parking area and 4 buses stood idle for the park and ride so guess our council tax will go up again next year to pay for their c*ck upI didn't say it was your fault, I said I was going to blame you

Congrats all those getting A level results (and their proud relatives on here!) :T
Dave really must be feeling a lot better - he is talking about getting the winemaking stuff down from the loft to use up the blackberries. He's been watching river cottage on daytime telly so he is once again joining me in smallholding fantasy land (although he still says we're not getting any chickens at this house ). The other thing he keeps watching is the JML channel  I swear, he is transfixed by it. He keeps calling me in to 'look at this!'. He was very taken with their remoska-rip-off halagen cooker, so I showed him the real deal in the Lakeland catalogue (which I just happened to have close to hand) and he agrees we should definitely get one and started coming up with recipe ideas for it. If he's off work much longer he'll make a very good housewife one of these days. And after I got that stain out of his favourite top he's even worshipping at the altar of stardrops :rotfl:There's something rather unwholesome about a muscly tattoed skinheaded 6foot5 bloke talking about cleaning!0 -
Afternoon all,
What a weird day we're having - it looked lovely out earlier this morning, then a little while ago it was bucketing with rain, and now the sun's out again. I wish it'd make its mind up!
I'm not going to do much today - need to save my energy as we have to go out this evening, and I don't really want to go. Its a CAMRA social, and I have some money to pass to our beer festival organiser from a local landlord who is sponsoring a barrel for us. I'm usually OK at branch meetings, but not so good as socials and informal do's as I have severe social phobia. But I want this money off my hands, and we're not going to be attending the next branch meeting, as it's in a pub without wheelchair access and no nearby parking.
At least I don't have to cook a meal for tonight - I made a moussaka yesterday, and there was enough for two days. So we'll eat the rest tonight. Goosegog pie for pud, and hopefully Mr LW will have a full tum after that, (I swear that man has hollow legs:D )
Have a good day, all.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -

Stardrops is great last-chance stain remover - it doesn't work for everything, but I've found it has worked on some stains that I thought were there forever.
It also revives the colour of whites, if you dilute some with a pint of boiling water and some soda crystals, put it in the washing machine drum and run the hottest cycle the clothes will bear. Don't use any washing powder. Line dry if possible. That can help.
Finally, if the shirts just look 'tired' try starching them then ironing - it puts the shape back in and makes them look newer.
Not that my OH wears shirts too often, but that's kind of the point - I'm not shelling out for clothes that we won't get good wear out of!Just thrown out = last week
:o They were certainly not fit for the charity shop. In fact, I would be ashamed to openly donate anything of my darling husband's to a charity shop of the items he will actually wear. I would have to leave them under cover of darkness. The shirts for work are holding their shape quite well, but the collars are fraying. They are shirts bought in the sale at Marks & Spencers or Moss Bros. Moss Bros sales are sometimes (only sometimes) worth rummaging but to be honest the shirts at half price are still near the upper limit of what we can afford.
Sometimes when I see the fraying, faded things that he thinks are fit to wear I am ashamed.
I don't use a lot of washing powder and I am picky about what else I put in, so most of his tee shirts and casual shirts haven't faded.
However, using stardrops and also the washing soda, as recommended, can only extend the life of the shirts. I think it will be worth while trying on some of little bear's clothes as well. His doting uncle bought him some colouring pens suitable for 18 month old toddlers. I will leave the rest to your imagination. Then there are the usual combinations of baked bean juice, sauce from pasta, juice, chocolate...

Afternoon all.
Am off work sick today, so made myself useful and set off over 30 eBay auctions. (All card making related items.) They'll all end a week on sunday.
Got them all packed up, so that if they sell I can simply address and take to the post office. Quite pleased, but there is still more to sell. I used to make a lot of cards, but seem to have got out of the habit. So, surplus stuff is off.
DH has had a lazy day - still v tired for some reason. I think he's been pushing some washing through though. (Yesterday we put away a 5 foot tall pile of washing thats been hanging around for a bit waiting to go away. So ashamed.)
Breakfast was philadelphia on toast
Lunch was half a cheese toastie, made using the last slice of the loaf. Now starving..
Tea is currently an unknown quantity. We're off up to Morrisons later though so will see if there is anything on offer. (Actually only going for bread and milk - famous last words..)
MethererNot heavily in debt, but still trying to sort things out.

Afternoon all,
No rain or sign of atm...quite warm. Up early as had to return rental car, came home prepared to get dinner ready for DD2 or DDIL1 to put on while we were at appointment with cardiologist...couldn't find confirmation letter, rang his secretary and appointment was for Tuesday 12th!...felt such an idiot, next one if for 9th September, will remember that one as it is a friend's birthday ...wish he would take some responsibility for himself sometimes!!
Happy anniversary to stressedmum and OH...just checking, is he stresseddad or mr stressedmum?
Hugs to anyone who is feeling the need for whatever reason at present...Smoky, hope that you and smokelets are ok, haven't seen you here in a while.
Lasagne from the freezer for most people, OH won't eat it, so he is having beans, burgers and steamed potatoes, and I am going to finish yesterday's spag bol!

Afternoon
I havent read through yet, just thought I would pop my head round the door to say hello first
Been soooo busy up to now today, doing bits of everything, clearing out drawers, cupboards, under stairs cupboard and shelves, files and folders, glad I did too there was so much rubbish(OH would dispute that  )I have half filled the paper bag for the next pick-up.
Then went out in the garden to see if MIL`s washing was dry, and you know what happens when you go out in the garden,I was still out there when the doorbell went 2 hrs later, it was the man from the Blind company to give me a quote for 2 blinds, one for the kitchen and one for the Utility room. I`ve had venetian, roller and roman over the last 20 yrs, so thought I would try vertical this time, but they are so expensive. I think its back to the drawing board, for the time being anyway, need to save for hols in October. Talking of saving I must count up how much we have in the Roses Jar, we had over £50 last time:T
Off to have a read now, back later
Anne
