O/S Daily thread for Thurs 14th august.

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for thurs 14th aug. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all!!

Morning LTS, I got stuck into some ironing and thought I'd stay up and watch the Olympics.
So, I'm now sat in bed drinking coffee. Poor you, having to change the beds.
Think I'll go into town later with Miss twit and sort out what files and folders she needs. I managed to get 6 school blouses from M&S the other day, I know they are not the cheapest, but they do last.
Hugs to the needy, Pen-Pin, Jay, Candys Dad to mention a few.

Morning LTS and whatatwit,
I haven't been to bed yet, just waiting for some news before I go. Like you whatatwit, I'm hoping to crack the school school stuff later today...I hate the thought of them going back, the summer seems to have gone very quickly.
Other plans are to get stuck into the house in the morning as it's a complete mess and I might get into the garden if it stays dry for a while. Sausages are defrosting so I'll do something with them for tea.
I hope everyone has a good day,
Pink0 -
Good morning all you Olympic watchers!
I've just caught up with the rest of yesterday's thread; I hope Archie is comfortable and not in any pain.
The photo of Shez and Cat with their respective children is lovely! Hope you all had a great time.
(((Hugs))) to Smoky, PenPin, Jayward, AnnieS, Candygirl's Dad and Essex-Girl's Dad and Beth and her DBs.
Churchmouse - :hello: :hello: :hello:
The sky doesn't look as gloomy as yesterday which was a truly dreadful day. It was wet, windy and very cold. I can't believe it's August!
Today I have a pile of ironing which I have been putting off since the weekend so I must get that done; after that I'll make some cakes and then get on with the office work. I have the usual filing to do and a few letters to write. I also have a box of teabags I'm going to send back to PG Tips - I transferred the teabags to a china canister and, every time I got one out a load of loose tea came out with it. On investigation, I found that some of the bags had not been sealed properly so I have decided to send the whole lot back to them! I usually use loose tea in a pot but I bought the teabags for when my Mum was staying with us for DS2's wedding. She likes a cup of tea in bed as soon as she wakes up so I always make up a tray in her room so she can help herself. Anyway, I'll see what they say.
Well, I seem to have collected a load of friends on Facebook. I spent about an hour uploading a photo but can't remember how I did it so any tips from the Facebook professionals on here would be most welcome! Am I the only one who finds it difficult to find my way around Facebook? My new DIL's sister has put some of her photos of the wedding on there. I can see them but do you have to be a friend to be able to see someone's photos? It's all new to me!
Well, I'd better go and get the breakfast organised and make DH's packed lunch so I'll call back later.

Another day at work, but DD id sleeping over at the IL's tonight, and DH and I are going out for a meal for our 10th Wedding Anniversary
Managed to finish DD's room yesterday, I'm finding that if I post that I'll do something relatively achievable on here in the morning - when I get home from work I'll do, because I've said I will IYKWIM :T
Anyway better go and stick a pot of coffee on to go with our pastries (special anniversary brekkie), get showered, dressed, do hair and make-up and get DD out of bed.

Morning all.
I'm leaving getting dressed until the very last minute today. Ordinarily I love my job but today I have a boys toilet in an infant school to redecorate. Crawling round on the floor under the urinals is my second least favourite job of all time. My least favourite being the removal of a manhole cover to find raw sewage millimeters from the top at which point some delightful child flushed. I 'll leave your imagination to work out what happened next.
After work I'm taking the DDs to assist in the bathing of a friends horse. The rather palatial livery yard has a horse sized shower so wellies on. It'll save me bathing them both tonight at any rate. Once the horse is done I'll hose them down and stand them under the horsey hairdryer (nope not a joke) before bunging them in PJs and taking them home to bed.
Hope you're all planning a slightly less smelly day.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Morning
Early start today as I have DGD. She is just starting to stand on her own, so will probably be walking soon
I too can't believe that anyone stays up to watch the Olympics, sport does nothing for me, but each to his own. Just as well I'm not interested, I like my bed too much :rotfl:
((( Hugs ))) to Kaat, hope Archie is comfortable x
Our neighbour knocked last night. They are having a hot-tub delivered tomorrow  and wanted to know if they can take out one of our fence panels to get it in - we live on an estate, so don't think I would want to sit in one with all the neighbours watching
Better go and take the dog out, catch you all later xYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -
Morning guys:j
Still not got to grip with the whole OS thing at the moment but I am trying. Need to do a shop today and we have hardly anything in the house and I am fed up of ryvita!
Might buy some whole fish today off the beach and have a go at cooking that, would you have it with salad or summat else?
Got a busy day today so I must shake a leg.
Have a good day x0 -
Good Morning All
Happy Anniversary SOMO1
(((Hugs))) for Kaat-lady and anyone else who needs one.
Mioliere - you are not alone, I definately dont understand Facebook, but you are one step ahead of me loading a photo on. Thanks for the concern over my Dad, he's still acting strangely at the moment but I will be seeing him for a while at the weekend so hope to see some improvement.
Well today I have a horrible day planned - will lock myself in my office all day. Have horrible filing jobs and 1 years of books to sort. I know it wont take me long once I start but its the starting thats difficult. Every year I do this and then I promise myself to do it monthly but it just doesnt happen!
OH hoovered the house yesterday and washed the floors so that was very nice coming home to that. He is taking the kids out today so I can really get on. Have 1 load in the wm and the washing basket is virtually empty but I dont want to mention the ironing pile.
Need to go look in the freezer for something for dinner, will try the Remoska at lunchtime but dont think Im brave enough for dinner yet.
Have a great day all
x
(Sorry N9eav - but it appears to be sunny here today)0
