NO No NO
The best haggis and the best OS way is to use your slow cooker.
The butcher who said only boil if pudding can be re-educated, you can boil any haggis.
I wrap in foil just incase it splits so you can still eat it but it never has split. Fill to about half way up with water and leave as long as you need to. On tuesday I put it on before we left for school/work and we ate at 6.15. It was delish.
MIL does it in microwave but I don't think it develops the flavour doing that.0 -
Wow - you all never cease to amaze me!
So many different ways to cook the humble haggis, including using a slow cooker - so, it can be done in an OS fashion!
What about the haggis leftovers? I like the chilli idea, might give that a try on Monday....0 -

I'll add this to an existing thread on cooking haggis for more ideas
I've never cooked one myself, but we're hoping to go haggis-hunting when we're next in Edinburgh

Try using left over chicken topped with left over haggis. A good whiskey/onion/mushroom sauce (Gravey if you must). A top of shortcrust.

I just put a MacSween's haggis in the oven, wrapped it in foil with some water and cooked it for 1 hour. It smelt bloody vile like something had gone off - I opened it and the contents smelt ok - I tasted a bit - seemed alright - but I was frightened to eat anymore in case there was something wrong with it so I chucked it - now its Chicken soup and tatties for dinner.
Does it always smell bad when its cooked?0 -
We`re having it for tea :T and i`m thinking of roasting it.
Any tips please :beer:0 -
When i have done these for myself and husband i wrap it in foil and place in a roasting tin, i found doing it this way helped when popping the casing when cooked as it is retained in the foil should and be forced out with the steam.:j Was married 2nd october 2009 to the most wonderful man possible:j

Hope none of our Scots members shoot me down in flames for this - I empty mine into a pyrex dish (lid on), break it up a bit with a fork, microwave for around 3mins, mix it up a bit and give another 1 or 2mins. Allow to stand.0

My mum does that and I'm Scottish, no problem to me, It's your haggis. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett
