I am not sure if you can do haggis in the SC? You usually simmer for about 45 mins in a pan so you can probably cook longer in the SC in water maybe?
I have to admit that we usually microwave it! Cut it open, cut up into pieces and microwave! The Best Things in Life Are Free0 -
I agree with scotgirl Kyle, we always microwave ours...cut into chunks, put in a big glass bowl, covered in cling-film.If you obey all the rules...you miss all the fun!! Katherine Hepburn0

All the natives up here microwave it. I held a Burns supper last year, insisted on buying a bonafide, non-supermarket haggis and 'cooking it properly' in a huge saucepan of water, it burst and the OH had to hotfoot it to Tesco for some replacement haggis. Smelt absolutley revolting. They reckon that's why they microwave it, to stop the smell!!! Microwaved haggis is OK if you are in a rush but nothing beats a proper boiled haggis. If you are microwave haggis devotee (and I was for many years) break the habit for once and dig out your saucepan. OK it's not very OS (in terms of money saving) but let your taste buds decide...!0

Hmm, Haggis.... My mum bought one once when I was a kid, and made the mistake of telling me what it was (and how it was made) before serving it up.
Needless to say, I wouldn't eat it. She tried hiding it in pies, omlettes and allsorts, it turned up at every flippin' meal in some guise or other - but she ended up eating it all herself !
Haha

Microwave haggis is lush, I love how it goes kind of chewy round the edges ... yum!0

Is there a way to use up left over haggis?
Only two of us eat it and any leftovers just go to waste.
I've always thought that it would be dodgy to re-heat am I right?
thanks0 -
For a change try vegetarian haggis, made by McSween's, really good & spicy.
N.
P.S. ALWAYS MICROWAVE.Never be afraid to take a profit.

Leftover Haggis - MMmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Use it to stuff into chicken breasts ( about 1.5 tbsp per breast), seal in foil pockets and pop in the oven to roast.
Makes a really savoury, yummy dish that I have even cooked for guests to let theme have a "wee taste of the beastie" without the heaps of haggis, tatties n neeps that can sometimes be a bit daunting.
If there is just a scrap left, then pop it into a potato and leek soup for a scrummy soup.
I always use the leftovers immediately and then freeze the chicken or soup to use later - never killed any of us yet- LOL.
Now I've got a haggis head on
