It's fine to freeze. Either in itself, or as cooked in all of the ways suggested above. One I like is to do a haggis, neeps and tatties burger. Serve with gravy in a yorkshire pudding for real indulgence. (although most scots will be throwing things at me for that suggestion :rotfl:)GC Mar 13 £47.36/£1500

Haggis is already cooked and only needs heated up in the microwave. Also, it freezes very well. I bought a couple of the big ones when they got reduced after Burns Night, cut them into one inch slices (one slice is a big portion) and froze them. Hubby, DS and I all love haggis but DD hates it so we have it every second Friday when DD is out at her friend's house for tea. Always with neeps and tatties.Val.0

Hello Folks
I'm haggis & neeps for my tea. I using one of those Halls products and have used them many times before. But on reading the destructions it says in capitals "DO NOT REHEAT".
What fate could possibly happen if I reheat the haggis (my intention was to bring the leftovers to work tomorrow)?
Look forward to your replies.

I have re-heated haggis before, especially if hubby is late and everyone else is having their meal earlier. I always reheat it thoroughly in the microwave and put a tablespoon of water on it to keep it moist, then cover in pierced cling film. We have never had any issues with anyone being ill with it - to be honest I would never give it a second thought!
enjoy!Every days a School day!0 -
Well, it's because you're not supposed to reheat cooked foods twice without cooking again inbetween. And haggis does come to you cooked and you're basically reheating it for the first meal. However....I reheat haggis all the time too. I make sure it's cooled and stored covered in the fridge and I do reheat it well. Not died yet!Val.0

A while back upon being cut off from the mainland (baaaaad storms) I discovered an odd taste sensation! OH wanted a pasta bake and on hunting in the freezer found a haggis! How to marry them up I thought? So I chucked some diced onions, passata, garlic and herbs into the slow cooker along with the diced haggis. A few hours later I was left with a thick sauce for the pasta that tasted ACE! Mixed it with some pre-cooked pasta, grated some Parmesan over the top and stuck it under the grill!
Has now become a weekly staple in our house!0 -
