Tesco - why do people shop there?

They are building an Asda near me and I will shop there once completed. It will join the 6 (yes you heard me 6!) other supermarkets on a 2 mile stretch where I live. Prior to this being completed asda won't deliver since it's too far away. I don't actually shop at Tesco's - I tend to go to Sainsbury's as I like their basics range more than Mr T's Value stuff. Plus I don't really like Tesco's lack of ethics etc. Their value bananas aren't fair trade (that I know of) but Mr S's basic bananas are which I like etc.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife

Tesco is the nearest to me, followed by Sainsbury's, Lidl, Asda then Morrisons and Aldi on the opposite side of town. Our Tesco isn't big, and I find it likes choice but it's the nearest and the clubcard points.0

Well Tesco is 18 miles away in one direction and 16 miles away in the other. I shop there because it is nearest BIG supermarket that I can get everything under on roof and I HATE it
I only go about once every two weeks and each time when I leave checkout I say " I am not coming back here, to expensive" but I do.
In out town we have Lidl, Iceland a a few local stores ( live in northern ireland) but I hate them ,
So until our new Asda opens a less than a mile from me next year guess it will just have to keep being Texco for me.TOTAL 44 weeks lose. 6st 9.5lb :T0 -
i use tescos but i do really like sainsburys ..there veg is fantastic quality0

On New Year's Eve 2006 and 2007, I made a resolution to avoid Tesco. I've not managed to keep to it either time.
I prefer Waitrose or Sainsbury's, but I sometimes get seduced by the BOGOFs and I find myself there yet again.
They also have a superb range of products, easy parking and a large, light (my local one, anyway) store.
I continue to try to wean myself off them completely.0 -
I hate Asda. It smells of poor people.0

I have a choice of LOADS of large Tesco's - or I can fight the IKEA crowds and football after driving for at least half an hour... Hmmmmm
And again I don't like the quality of their fruit and veg to be honest...DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

Although Tesco is about half a mile further than Asda I prefer it as I find Tesco Valu is of a better quality than Ada Smartprice, the Clubcard vouchers come in handy too. Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!0

I prefer Sainsbury's quality. Tescos's is nearest. Asda is cheapest. I do the rounds a different one each week and stock up with what I consider the best from each.Mortgage and Debt free but need to increase savings pot. :think:0

There is no Tesco in our local town, the nearest is about 10 miles away. We have Sainsburys, Morrisons and Aldi though, and I am a recent Aldi convert! It is loads cheaper, and most of the products are really good quality (with the exception of the wine:eek:. Trouble is, you can never get everything you need there, so have to do a top up shop at one of the other two. I wish Aldi would stock more food and household products and not clog up the centre of the store with a lot of plastic cr*p and really cheap and nasty clothes though! I don't know who buys this stuff - nobody, it seems, because it always seems to be the same rubbish there...0
