  • The LPG system probably needs reprogramming as the battery was removed for a time. I had a similar problem, buy a diagnostics cable and CD about £80 from http://www.fesautogas.co.uk they are helpful guys. Get someone with a laptop to install the software and connect to the car, you should be able to get it going or diagnose the problem. When you have finished with the cable ebay it and get your money back! I think the system you have is a Romano but find the ecu for the lpg to make sure.
    This signature is not mine!
  • Now there's something I didn't know about the LPG system! I don't know why my local LPG guy wouldn't have picked that up though... I will check out that link.

    Thanks abomb

    Hi Folks
Today we bought a car. The price on the forecourt was 12799.00 so we negotiated our deal, paid the depoist and came home. Once home we looked the car up on the dealers webpage to show the children, only to find it being advertised at 11799.00. Is there anything we can do about this? I thought it was illegal to advertise something at 2 different prices. Help please. We didn't take out any finance on the car but we did part exchange our 2 cars as part of the deal. Thank you. The car we have bought is secondhand.

The price displayed is simply 'an offer to trade' which allows buyer and seller to negotiate a deal. You started your negotiation at £12799 and took into account your 2 part exchange cars. You were presumably happy with your final price or you wouldn't have completed the deal.

Now, having seen the starting price £1000 cheaper what can you do? Maybe the website was out of date or even a mistake. The best you can expect is to return to the dealer and point out the problem. He might agree to refund the difference or make an ex-gratia payment to you. I can't see you have any other course of action.

    Regards,
    Art.

    Hi Art
We went back today and explained that we were not happy that the car had been advertised at a lower price. The manager could see it from our point of view but he was unwilling to do anything as we'd hit the bottom line anyway on the purchase price. I questioned whether it was illegal to advertise the same item at two different prices and he agreed that it was. We pointed out that effectively he had sold it to us at more than the internet price. He then made a goodwill offer which we rejected and after a little extra pushing he made another goodwill offer of £375.00 plus a full tank of fuel which we accepted. Although we will never know how much we could have pushed for we were happy enough to walk away with that. He also said that he will now instigate changes in their processes to make sure that this does not happen to anyone else and both parties were happy with the outcome.

Thanks for your advice - it gave us confidence to go and try.

    Hi,
That's good news. It's always worth while asking as the dealer can only say 'no' but in your case you came out £375 better off plus a tank of petrol.

  • I was cold called by 3G 7 months ago about their Talk & text 600 - £2.99 Per Month offer. Free phone, 500 free minutes, 100 free texts, £15 per month for the first 3 months, £30 after that, 1 year contract, claim form to send in after 6 months for a refund and another after the year which brings the price down to £2.99 per month. I don't usually listen to cold calls but this one sounded good so I went for it.
A month ago I sent off the claim form along with bill no 6, as stated on the claim form, to get my refund. 3 weeks later there was no sign of it so I rang them. Oh, they said, you were supposed to send the original delivery note as well and it says that in the terms and conditions. I pointed out that it didn't say that on the claim form, and also that the claim form said to send bill 6 whereas the terms and conditions said to send bill 4. Which was correct? Bill 6, they said, but you have to send the delivery note, first photocopying it so that you can send the photocopy with the second voucher. I did this, but unfortunately, rushing to get it in the post with 5 days to go before the expiry date on the claim form, I sent it 1st class instead of recorded delivery. Today, the day before the expiry date, I had still heard nothing, so I rang them again. Predictably, they are claiming that they haven't received it so I can't get my refund, nor will I be able to get my second refund at the end of the year. And no, there's nothing they can do about it, no, they won't accept the photocopy, no, I can't speak to a supervisor, no, a supervisor can't ring me as they don't have any phones for outgoing calls (this is a mobile phone company, right??), no, I can't have the managing director's phone no because he doesn't speak to anyone, and no, I can't get out of my contract. So it seems I have to pay them £30 a month which I can ill afford for another 6 months. Any ideas please??

Firstly, are you sure you are dealing with 3G direct and not an intermediary?

I would write to the company you have your contract with and lay out all the facts. Demand the refund they promised you and tell them that if you don't get it within 7 days you will contact Trading Standards. If after 7 days you get no response go straight to Trading Standards without further delay.

    Regards,
    Art.
  • Thanks for quick response, Art. I'll be onto them tomorrow and will cc letter to every address I've got, and send them all by recorded delivery!
    I'll keep you posted.

    Hi Guys,
Quick query on where I stand with attempting to get a refund from Ticketmaster for some tickets I purchased. I wasn't aware that the show would be put on in two places and ended buying tickets for the wrong gig. I have since purchased tickets for the correct gig and was going to sell the others on ebay.

I know Ticketmaster (and the others) state no refunds etcetc but is this legally correct?

    cheers

  • Back to 3g..have discovered I'm not the only one with a problem. Would like to know if there's anyone else on here. Check out clik2complaints.com and search on 3g. Have also found some geographical phone numbers for them on saynoto0870.co.uk and I'm posting them far and wide: 01628 765000, 0141 204 8674, 01442 465000, and a free one: 0800 358 6795. There's also one for Eire on the site.

Not sure that this is the right forum to ask this but someone may be able to help.

    Ok heres the situation...

I purchased in January a Home cinema projector and screen package from an online European retailer. The goods arrived as expected but sadly the projector screen had a fault on it so i had to return it. The two items both had the same order no but different items - ie one was screen one was the projector. I followed the procedures for returns (to france !!! at a cost of £28!) and after a couple of weeks received an email saying they had accepted my faulty item as a return. The email went on to say a replacement would be depatched. After a couple of weeks there was still no sign of the screen so I phoned the company uk helpline - they where very helpful and told me that they would ensure the item was despatched as there had been a delay but it shuld be out in the next day or two.

Sure enough i received a parcel last week - another new projector. Not a screen(wich is what i sent back faulty) but a complete new projector.

The projector itself is worth approx £450 and the screen I could buy for less than £100.

Dilema.....do i return the projector and complain it was a screen I wanted or do i shut up and smile nicely in the knowledge their loss is my gain!.

So - the question is.... What should I do? and indeed what legally should I do?
