Hi I wonder if anybody can please give me some advice......
My boyfriend bought a ring for me from Christine Saddler Jewellery, he first looked at the ring online and then spoke to the shop baed in Ayr to purchase this. After wearing the ring for less than 1 hour I was horrified to find that my finger had in fact turned green!!!!!!!! An email was sent to the supplier advising of this and also requesting that we would like to return this ring for a refund. We received an email back advising that this ring was made up of 92% silver and the remainder being copper (by the way there is no 925 hallmark on the ring to advise of the silver content). We were told that the finger had turned green due to an allergy in my skin against the copper content, surprisingly tho I have never ever had a reaction to any other jewellery I have worn over the years. The shop told us that they could put a "coating" on the ring which should stop any further discolouration on my skin, however after investigating this on the internet I found out that this coating would wear off and would have to be replaced. Today I visited the shop to again request a refund... I spoke to a very snotty uptight Christine Saddler who was adament and I have to say extremely rude (obviously had never attended a customer services course in her life, and certainly does not see keeping customers happy as a priority!!!! to start with she advised that she would only be prepared to coat the ring, once I told her that I was not happy with this, she became obnoxious and started to shout that she did not want my custom and was not prepared to do anything, she also informed me that if I were to contact trading standards they would infact support her decision. Firstly can I please warn people that if you are going to purchase from this independent retailer than be prepared for your skin to discolour and be treated like a piece of dirt on her shoe!!!!!!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated0 -
Firstly send a recorded delivery letter saying the ring is not of merchantable quality and you want a refund.
You don't say how much the ring cost and how you paid for it.
Point out in your letter that if a refund isn't given within 7 days you will go to the Small Claim Court.
If the ring was more than £100 and you paid with a credit card then your card company is equally liable so send them a copy of your letter and ask them to deal with the matter for yo.

Hi
I have a query re a PS3 we purchased for Xmas 2007, I purchased the extended 3 yr warranty ( luckily) and Nov 09 it broke - yellow lights of death, it was collected by a courier & repaired with no charge.
Now it has broken again ( same fault) when I phoned the repair co to organise the collection they seem to be giving me the run around, I did get my phone call in just over 24 hrs but was then told the engineer will phone me as it's a recall.
Either they didn't repair it properly or it has an inherant falut & needs replacing so after this length of time do I have any rights to ask for a refund (- argos vouchers it does say this in the breakdown cover) or do I have to wait for them to organise fixing it again??.
cheers for any help

hello all.
i have recently purchased a carpet cleaner from Argos. upon assembling the cleaner as per the assembly instructions i was having difficulty getting the screw holes to align up and screws would not fit.
i contacted Bissell and told them the nature of my problem and they informed me that in this case a they have authorized a replacement. i could either go and swap the item at Argos or they could arrange for a currier to pick um my product and drop of a replacement product. i went for option 2 with the currier.
a date was arranged for the pick up and drop off of the cleaner. a new carpet cleaner was dropped off. the original cleaner was never taken away as the currier informed me that this was not on his detail.
what should i do now??? should i contact Bissell or wait for them to contact me? if i wait for them to contact me, how long is a reasonable time? what should i do with the original product? (it could easily be repaired)
thanks in advance for any advice.

No you don't have any right to a replacement. They should repair it for you under the warranty. Get on to them and insist they deal with it asap.

Hi all,
I bought a Microwave from Currys on 30th June 2008. It is now 18/19 months old. Yesterday it stopped working.
I took it to the store who told me it was out of warranty. I said I would contact Kenwood, he said it was made by Currys and then branded. I spoke to Currys customer service who said that I may get a partial refund in vouchers but it would probably be between £15-£20. I know it was only £55 new, but I would have liked it to last longer than 18 months.
Is there anything I can do about this or is it tough luck.
Thanks for any help and advice.

No sounds entirely reasonable resolution for what is a cheapish microwave.
Its also encouraging that the likes of currys seem to be becoming more aware of the SOGA process.
No doubt still wont be enough though for everyone who will want £30 electrics to last 5 years.0 -
On 16th December I ordered and paid for a Razor from Comet. I received confirmation through the post that my order had been accepted and would be sent in due course.
When my order didn't arrive I contacted them and was told that it was out of stock and would be sent as soon as new stock arrived. Two days ago I noticed that the item was now in stock again so asked for a delivery date.
Today I received a reply that they do not export goods to Northern Ireland and that they would refund my money within 3 - 4 days. I was not told this at point of ordering. As Northern Ireland is part of the United Kingdom and it states clearly on their website that they use Royal Mail for deliveries where Parcel Force cannot deliver I see no reason why they cannot use Royal Delivery for my Order.
I do not want a refund I want the goods that I paid for. I dont know of any other British company that wont deliver good to Northern Ireland. Did they not enter into a contract to supply me with these goods when they removed money from my account? Any advice would be gratefully received.0 -
Comet state no contract is formed until dispatch hence no contract hence nothing wrong or you can do.0
