Can anyone offer advice as to what is the best way to gather info from the net in a useful way other than stacks of printouts - as I would imagine, although many people talk about problems and "goodwill" gestures by Sony because of a seemingly known laser problem, it's all.....anecdotal I guess? Thanks

If this ends up in court you will need hard copy to present as evidence. You could quote the URLs but this would be no good if the sites disappear. You could also transfer the info to a memory stick.

    Hi

I bought my son a nintendo DS for christmas and the top screen has gone all pixellated.
Unfortunately, i bought it online from Woolworths :(

I thought i'd seen somewhere on MSE that WH Smith's were honouring Woolworths warranties but can't find it anywhere now.

Have i got a chance of exchanging it anywhere or not?

  • In the past I have had excellent experiences dealing directly with Nintendo themselves. I had a DS that developed a fault and couldn't find the receipt, but because it hadn't been out over 12 months, Nintendo sorted it no problem. They really can be very helpful. If you have the receipt I don't think you can go wrong giving them a quick call. It's not as straight forward as walking to a shop, but the end result is the same :)

Did you pay by credit card? If so contact them as they are jointly liable under Section75 of the Consumer Credit Act.

You could try the administrators,( if you know who they are), for more advice, or maybe Nintendo themselves as the warranty will be with them, although they are not obliged to assist you as your contract is with Woolworths.

  • Hi

I entered into a new 18 month contract with 3 Mobile in December and recived a sonyericsson C905. I immedeatley noticed that the slider mechanism was faulty and took it to one of their stores. The staff compared the handset to their stock and agreed it was loose. The handset was then sent to 3 but they returned it stating that their "sonyerriscon" engineers could find no fault.

I emailed sonyerisson who advised me to return the handset to them for repair which I duly did. It was returned to me with a much more solid slider mechanism. Unfortunately, the keypad was now faulty, and I was not even able to enter my PIN (quality control?).

I returned it once again (mid Jan) and have been waiting ever since. I have been given a range of reasons/excuses for the delay, and eventually they agreed to replace the handset. On chasing this up, I have found out that they are waiting for a refurbished handset to send me! They are refusing to send me a new one - even as a gesture of goodwill (I am still naive enough to beleive it exists!).

I have scoured the web, but am still uncertain exactly what my rights are. Any ideas?

    Jon

Yes, i did pay by credit card but i thought the claim limit on those was £100 and over? This cost just a few pounds under the 100. (was on offer at the time)

You're right the limit is £100. speak to the manufacturer and see what they can do for you.

Yes you are correct, as I don't use Nintendo Ds, I thought they where over £100.
Sounds like they are but you got a reduced one, sorry Section 75 won't work, although it might be worth a phone call to CC company!

  • Hi folks,

    hopefully someone can advise me.

I bought a battery for a motorbike the 1st of November 08. The battery is dead already.

I called the shop and the asked me for my receipts to verify when I bought it. The warranty its only 6 months.

I looked at my bank statement and manged to find the charge. Can I ask them to retrieve the invoice for me ? Can I use the Reference as a proof of purchase?

    Thanks Dave

The bank statement is sufficient proof.
